Very nice, clean office; super-friendly & helpful doctors and office staff ? I also appreciated digital ‘new patient’ forms—they’re so much easier than old-school paper-and--pen forms! My first appointment was late in the afternoon, so I thought (like with many doctors’ offices) that they might be running behind. They were not—everything was smooth, timely, and efficient (without feeling rushed). ⌚️ I love my previous dentist, but unfortunately, they’re no longer in-network. I HATED the idea of switching, but I have to in order to afford my dental care. So far, this office has made the switch as painless as possible. ?

I came in for a cleaning and my filling unexpectedly fell out. It was loose and I didn’t know and was grateful it happened in office instead of at home. For that tooth that filling was traumatic 5 years ago. It was 2 hours and painful and scary. I was told my mouth was too little and made it too difficult and never felt it was done well. Dr. Malagayo changed my experience with dentistry for the better! She made it incredibly painless and super easy! I had two fillings done in the span of 40 minutes and the quality is impeccable. She was also incredibly kind and gentle throughout the entire thing making sure I knew what was going on and that I was comfortable. I’m absolutely blown away and impressed with her quality of work and how she treats patients. Joy was also amazing at showing kindness, speed, and thoroughness throughout and I couldn’t be more grateful for their quality of work despite an unexpected situation. Couldn't recommend them enough!!

I found this place through google and I was pleasantly surprised, the customer service is amazing and so is their dental work! They took time to explain what they were doing to my teeth and even removed glue from braces I had years ago. I drive 30 minutes just to come here, i recommend them to anyone in the area or willing to drive!

My son actually WANTS to go to the dentist because he enjoys them so much. They have a mini arcade in the waiting room too to help distract the kids from what is scary for even some adults. June/2025: Such a great staff here! Everyone is so friendly, professional, compassionate, knowledgeable and thorough! Highly recommend! My dad hasn't been to the dentist since 2019, and was having problems with one of his fillings. So I called the last dentist he saw, and they told me it would be close to $200 for an office visit, but they wouldn't be able to see him until next week. I thanked them for their time and called my dentist - Smiles of Bulverde. They not only had a new patient special, but they got him in the same day! When all was said and done, he ended up owing nothing, because they ran it through his Humana benefits correctly! My whole family now goes to Smiles of Bulverde! From my 13 year old son, to my daughter with braces, and now my 82 year old dad! Thank you everyone at Smiles of Bulverde!

Came here for a second opinion after not feeling like I was taken seriously by another clinic. I have some unusual medical conditions that need a less is more approach; as soon as I arrived I knew I was in the right place. Staff are friendly and approachable, Joy the hygienist and the Dr listened to my concerns, took time to understand my situation and worked with me to decide on a treatment plan that I was comfortable with and was appropriate. Super accommodating - mom messed up a dental surgery for my daughter by letting her have breakfast and they rescheduled for later in the day and even stayed past 5. My step-kids see the dentist here, and several months ago I took them to an appointment and I was extremely impressed with the level of service from start to finish. I spent most of my life in fear of the dentist, and was lucky enough to find one who I loved and saw 8 years in Houston. Now that I'm in SA, I got to a point where I needed one here in town (a sad and hard decision), and this is who I chose. My own experience here was also fabulous, especially since this was an "emergency appt." They were able to fit me in the next day. I love how gentle they are and I loved the vibe. I loved my soft blanket during my appt. Highly recommend, especially if you avoid dentists. Thank you so much for giving great care.

- [ ] My association with Smiles of Bulverde began with a persistent pain in my top front tooth. From the moment I was greeted by Angie and Jennifer, given a tour and introduced to the practice by Toni and had a cleaning by Joy, I felt welcomed. I left my previous dentist the year before so I needed to get back into regular dental care, also. With the pain in my tooth, I was sure I was going to need a root canal from that tooth’s previous history and, after X-rays confirmed it, Dr. Malagayo and her assistant, Stephanie, were able to perform the procedure that very day. Since then, I’ve had my two front crowns (they weren’t the same color as my permanent teeth) replaced and now my smile is back to being truly mine. Thank you, Dr. Malagayo. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this practice because they care about their patients.

I had couple of crowns nicely replaced and few cleanings with no issues here. The dentist and the hygienists are careful and knowledgeable with the latest tech. They used 3D scan on my post and close up photos with HD camera to show you close ups before and after. The X-ray seems up to date and comfortable. The endodontist they recommended also did a great job on re-treatment of my infected root canals. Prices are competitive. Needless to say dentistry is very expensive. $$$$

Took my daughter for a regular cleaning. We found this location to be closer than our current dentist and was looking for convenience. The facility was nice and the faculty was nice, don't have a problem with Dr. Lisa but after what I thought was a regular cleaning and yes, 6 months prior I was aware that we were monitoring 2 cavities on her front teeth; I was caught off guard when Dr. Lisa told me she had at least 8 cavities and suggested caps and there was early signs of 4 other cavities to be aware of. I don't know if this is a common practice for them but after eavesdropping on the patients before us, the recommendation seemed so similar. I went to our original dr for a 2nd opinion and she has 5 not the 12 Dr. Lisa said. The price difference is astronomical and to be honest I've never experienced a dentist office asking me about my medical coverage as far as deductible. I will definitely not be coming back to this place and find it disturbing that they use pediatrics as a means of a nice chunk of change to be made.

I was in town visiting my folks and had a dental emergency. The staff were all so kind and helpful to get me seen as quickly as possible. Every step of the process was handled so well. From helping ensure my Insurance was good, to the actual procedure, the customer experience was excellent. Would highly recommended this office to anyone who’s lucky enough to live in SA.

It was not mentioned during the postponement that there would be cancellation charges, but I was charged $35 after the appointment. If it had been mentioned during the postponement, I would have tried to make it instead of paying $35. On the other hand, I asked twice during the appointment booking and on the day of the appointment, and I was told that everything would be covered by insurance for basic cleaning. However, it was not mentioned that fluoride was not covered before the treatment but changed after I was treated. I experienced poor communication at many times during multiple visits. Very disappointed.

WE HAVE AN APT AT 7:30 they never showed up! Now my son is missing school bc they are unorganized. Never ever again. This place is unprofessional and puts off franchise money hungry vibes. Learned our lesson the hard way. Response to their reply is we did have an appointment that they text us about 10 times and their “dentist” didn’t show. This place is a JOKE.

The dental assistant called me back within minutes and showed me around the clinic, took painless x-rays all while being so relaxing and gentle. Dr. Knox, was very sweet. She went over all my concerns and answered all questions that I had very patiently taking the time to explain her recommendations and concerns as well. I had a great experience with my visit yesterday. The staff in the front office was very nice and friendly, the facility was very nice and clean, and they used up-to-date equipment for all of X-rays and pictures. I saw Dr. Knox. She was incredibly thorough and explained everything in great detail as she went. She was very attentive to my concerns and you could tell she made it her goal to go above and beyond to care for her patients. I would recommend this office for anyone who might need a new dentist.

Great experience! Love Dr. Lisa, who is amazing with kids. If you are looking for a good pediatric dentist, shes the one! Dr. Jamie is our family dentist now, she is very good. Very thorough examination and cleaning. I recommend their practice if you are very picky about the right dentist for your family. You won't be disappointed!

I needed a deep cleaning and tooth extraction due to it being severely decayed. I had not been to a dentist in a very long time however the staff and Dr. Knox were very friendly and patient. During the procedure she continuously made sure I was ok and absolutely sure I couldn’t feel what she was doing to make sure the anesthesia hadn’t worn off. My mouth is sore but also the cleanest it has been in years. Strongly recommend to anyone that has questions or concerns regarding dental care or cleanings.

Dr. Lisa was very patient with my child. He has sensory processing and compliance challenges, but she was able to work with him at his pace and comfort level. She showed him what tools she will be using and used it on his nails to show him it was just going to tickle his teeth. She was able to remove calcium buildup. Most importantly, my son was comfortable and relaxed with the experience. I’m so pleased! Highly recommend for children, especially those who need extra patience!

Everyone was very nice and helpful and help come up with my dental plan. They didn’t push for things I don’t want nor need. Understand wha I want and need and is working with me.
