I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was honestly one of the most unethical and misleading experiences I've had with a healthcare provider. I recently moved to Downtown Los Angeles and decided to try a local dental office instead of continuing to drive to my longtime dentist in the Valley. I thought I found a trustworthy office, especially since the receptionist and doctor were Iranian like me, which made me feel more comfortable initially. Unfortunately, that trust was completely misplaced. From the beginning, the receptionist was oddly pushy and pressured me to come in the same day despite me clearly saying I had a long workday and was exhausted. Looking back, that should have been my first red flag. Before my appointment, I sent over my insurance card. At absolutely no point did anyone inform me that this doctor was OUT OF NETWORK. No warning. No transparency. Nothing. When I arrived, they immediately proceeded with scans and X-rays without clearly explaining costs or coverage. They provided with a false estimate for my review, no words again at all again the costs may change based off the fact that we are out of network. I was then pressured into an expensive "deep cleaning" after being told that if I didn't do it, I could potentially end up with severe health consequences, even cancer. Fear-based tactics in a dental office are completely unacceptable. I paid around $1,300 out of pocket that same day for the treatment they strongly pushed. Then, a month later, I received an additional surprise bill for over $600 because, surprise, the office was out of network and many services were not covered. What made this even worse was the complete lack of professionalism afterward. When I tried contacting the office to discuss the billing discrepancy, my calls were ignored. I specifically asked to speak with the receptionist who handled my intake and insurance information, and I was repeatedly told she was "busy" and that she would call me back. She never did. Instead, I later received an email containing a completely different explanation of the charges and why I supposedly owed an additional $600. The explanations were inconsistent, unclear, and did not align with what was communicated during my visit. The issue is not whether I can afford the bill. I can. The issue is the principle, the lack of transparency, and the unethical way this office conducts business. I have been to multiple dentists throughout my life and have NEVER experienced a situation where an office withheld out-of-network information after receiving my insurance in advance, while simultaneously pushing expensive procedures without full financial disclosure. Patients deserve honesty, transparency, and informed consent....not pressure, false information, and surprise bills afterward.

Dr. Kouroush has immense expertise in his field and immediately told me what needs to be done with my teeth to improve my orale health. He addressed all my concerns and gave me good referrals to specialists. Seeing the presence of this USC alumini gives me confidence! Also, I want to deeply thank Nayid for gooding a fantastic job cleaning my teeth. He carefully removed all the plaque and tartar build-up and told me how to maintain my teeth so that I can keep my gums healthy. He also applied an anti-baterial laser and a piece of antibiotic in my deep pocket to maintain the area. I cannot recommend Smile LA enough if you are in the area. You will for sure receive high-quality treatment and a satisfied result!

I was given a thorough explanation of what to expect beforehand, so that helped me mentally prepare for the experience. Once I arrived, check in was smooth and quick, and I was called in for my cleaning soon after. I was immediately put at ease by my hygienist (Nayib). He explained what he would be doing and why, and was really nice about giving me status updates throughout the process. We were done with the cleaning pretty quick, and he thoroughly explained the measures I should be taking to keep my teeth and gums healthy, especially while flossing. Beware. Not in network with Cigna even though Dr. K lists this on Zocdoc and is on the Cigna site. Ended up being charged hundreds of dollars for a deep cleaning because insurance would not cover the amount this office charged. No one ever disclosed they were not in network at the time of my visit and that the amount shown was the confirmed amount owed . They also tried to push a laser treatment which was not covered at all, which I thankfully declined. Be sure to confirm in person if they are in network with your provider because the online information is not accurate. They ask all new patients to leave a review and spin a wheel for a free prize, which probably explains all the 5 star reviews they get

STAY AWAY!!!! If I could give zero stars I would found this place on google and boy would I regret coming here came here because of all the good reviews which I’m starting to think are fake reviews. Anyways my tooth was killing me bad instead of the dentist actually caring about that he just kept trying to sell other procedures. I told him I would come back for everything else at a future time I just need the tooth extracted now. He did not like that after being left in the room for almost an hour with severe pain a front desk worker came in to give me a price breakdown this guy added bone graft with out even talking to me about it first when I said I don’t want bone graft in my mouth he basically kicked me out and said he wouldn’t do it if I did not do the graft so i left in worse pain than when I arrived. This guy is only worried about money he doesn’t care about his patients all he sees is dollar signs I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy!!!

Worst dentistry ever !! I have never been treated this way. When I originally went in for a cleaning they were so pushy and I had told them I was trying to get pregnant and they wanted me to take x rays. I had to explain my self few times. Then second time around they wanted me to do an insane amount of test for a cleaning, I’m sure it was so they could charge my insurance. I told his office, I would do what they needed but the next apt and they never schedule me. Then I had the owner come and tell me, that since I didn’t book a next apt, that I would be discharged, when in fact it was his office who failed to book me. I will never ever go back !

X-rays are an essential part of dental care for diagnosing potential issues that cannot be seen during a visual examination. If patients are unable or refuse to take x-rays, we do offer a release of liability of undiagnosed treatment form, that can be signed. I visited Dr. K's office in January 2022 after my childhood dentist retired. I had concerns about teeth grinding and needed a new dentist. Dr. K referred me to Dr. Razmik Galustian for an examination of my dental implant. Dr. Galustian recommended that the implant needed to be replaced. Despite my reluctance, I sought second opinions from two other dentists, both of whom confirmed the need for replacement. Things seemed to be going well until August 2023, when the implant was placed. I noticed that my gums receded and my partial tooth did not fit properly. I was left without a partial for an entire month. Even my orthodontist commented that "this is not how you should be treated." In January 2024, I finally got my crown placed. However, I was incredibly disappointed. The crown was bulky, and I now had gaps in my teeth. Dr. Galustian had promised that I would look better, but instead, I ended up with more issues. It took me three months to find a dentist and a periodontist who treated me with care and compassion. I strongly advise against getting dental implants at Dr. K's office. It's better to go to a periodontist with their own office who is not a traveling periodontist that only comes once a month.

Spent way too much on a routine cleaning. Unfortunately, this office is very inflexible with payment options. I should have known better after I paid half up front for future services, immediately following the initial consultation. They demanded payment in full on the day of the cleaning and would not let me pay with a flexible spending account when I was to return a few days later for the actual dental work. I showed them my FSA account and balance and still ended up paying for everything out of pocket. They still have the nerve to innundate me with texts after I gave them explicit instructions to cease contact. If I receive another text from them, I will definitely report this behavior (and other clear violations I witnessed) to the Dental Board.

I’d been having some pain in my mouth near an old root canal from another dentist. I scheduled an emergency visit and was in complete panic mode because I thought I was losing a tooth. I've been here numerous times for dental work & can't believe I haven't left a review yet! I have severe dental anxiety and am known to have panic attacks during procedures, even the simple ones. I've been to many dentists and have never found dentists like Dr K or Dr Kwon along with the lovely hygienists and assistants - even the office manager is so caring and attentive. The entire office is so patient and genuine. Sure some of the work may be a little more expensive than others, but at least you know you're getting quality work done by professionals who actually care about what they're doing and care about you as a person. This doctor and office is unfortunately a cheater. I called them to ask how much they charge for dental implant, they said we cannot tell you over the phone, you have to be checked out, we have a complimentary check. I went to the office and they asked me to fill out all the forms. I said why do you want my SSN they said you have to put it there we don't charge you, it's complimentary. Doctor checked my tooth to give me an estimate of how much it would cost for the implant and he insisted to do x ray, I said no, I just want a quote. Doctor didn't give me the estimate and those girls gave an out of range estimate. I said I can't afford it and left . Long story short they charge my insurance and didn't tell me. What a crook! They buy the reviews pay google to remove bad ones, don't get fooled by that

SCAM SCAM SCAM. stay away from this place. I had to get a few fillings done so i scheduled an appointment and gave my insurance information. A few days before my appointment I received a call from them confirming my appointment and my insurance status, i asked if this insurance would cover it and they told me that they double checked and that i was all set. A few days after I arrive to the clinic, the lady at the desk tells me that my insurance had just become out of their network, but they assured me that once i pay out of pocket i would be compensated for out of pocket cost by the insurance company. So me trusting this organization, i agreed to pay $2000 out of pocket for just a few filling. The insurance company rejected the claim, turns out my dental insurance had been inactive for 6 month. The front desk failed to accurately assess and communicate the status of my insurance , which in return costed me thousand of dollars. Just dont come here, this organization is hungry for you money and they are jot afraid to lie to make your buck!!!

The whole team is super friendly, helpful and transparent- they’re what I’ve been looking for in a dental provider for my whole life! Dr. K took the time to explain my whole treatment plan, and was far more thorough and clear than any other dentist I’ve been to. He and everyone in his office makes me feel like a person first and foremost, and I can honestly say that’s been rare in my experience with dental care. Every procedure I’ve had done at the office has been so quick and I’m so happy with the results I’ve had. Everyone (and I do mean the whole team, including has been very attentive and kind. I’m extremely grateful for the Smile L.A. team. The in-house plan is fantastic as well if you don’t have dental insurance! The office is also really easy to get to using public transportation (located right by the 7th St Metro Center). I’ll be moving out of state soon, but I’ve already booked additional appointments past my moving date, and plan on sticking with the smile LA team for as long as I can!! I would recommend them to anyone looking to get dental work done. Truly a gem.

They said my insurance provider, Delta Dental, has downgraded my deep cleaning and did not pay the designated amount of my bill. We discussed and after a couple weeks the front desk lady told me that they have figured it out and I don’t need to pay full for it. I paid my portion. Later they even told me that the insurance covered more so I have a balance on the account. That sounds great to me so I continued to do my regular teeth cleaning with them. Now, after 9 months, they are writing to me again that there’s still a deep cleaning fee that I owed. I don’t know what’s going on here. I even don’t need to pay for my last regular teeth cleaning fee because they said I have a remaining balance on the account and I can just deduct from that. If I knew the bill is a mess and they will still charge me after they said I’m good here, I won’t continue to do my regular teeth cleaning with them.

Even after having insurance switches that made going here sometimes difficult, the office has tried to work through it with me and now even offers a pretty reasonable in-house plan. My overall dental hygiene improved since coming here. I went from having to do intense dental work (root canals, fillings, deep cleanings) to now just regular cleanings thanks to the doctor’s guidance. Best experience I've ever had at a dental office. Dr. K and his whole team are amazing. So friendly and really help you to feel comfortable and at ease during your visit. The Dr. is always on time and I am in and out in an hour or less. I had to have a lot of super old fillings replaced which I was dreading (I've had some less than pleasant experiences at previous practices) but Dr. K is just so fast and efficient that by my 3rd visit my anxiety levels were non existent. I don't have insurance, so they offered me an in-house plan, which included several cleanings and discounted rates on dental work. Although, in general, few people enjoy a trip to the dentist, the team is so friendly, they make the visit much more pleasant and comfortable. The office is also quite nice. Today I came in for my second appointment for zoom whitening. Appointment took a little under two hours and it didn’t hurt when I have very sensitive teeth. My teeth are no joke 6 shades lighter. They look so pearly white! They also validate parking which is pretty big in downtown.

By far best dentist I had!!! Let’s just say I drove an hour and a half to see him. If you have ever been afraid or nervous of shots. His shots do not hurt. Super friendly , knowledgeable dentist. His staff is amazing they make you feel comfortable and at home. I will not go to anyone else.

Everything about this office is great! Came in for a wisdom tooth removal and deep cleaning. Best experience by far. I felt completely comfortable and taken care of. Dr. explains all the work along with pros and cons, and the staff make you feel welcomed always.

This office saved me yesterday. Had a HORRIBLE tooth pain yesterday afternoon and found this place right before they closed. I called at 4pm and they said closed at 5pm and I was 30 minutes away. They said not to worry and that they would stay open for me. I was rushed in and Dr K met with me and said I needed a root canal immediately. I felt nothing when they gave me the shot and hardly anything the entire procedure. I was shocked. His bedside manner and energy was so great and he was so sweet and concerned. He reassured me everything would be ok. The entire staff stayed until I was finished and everyone gave me a big hug when I left the office. It’s nice to know there are people this genuine and nice left in this world. Thank you Dr K from the bottom of my heart.

Grateful I found this office. I was referred to Smile LA from my niece because I wanted to get porcelain veneers from someone exceptionally credible with good work. I saw a video of him placing porcelain veneers on a patient and I was hooked. I drove 2 hours away and came into his office for a consult. Dr Kourosh was very cool and down to earth which was refreshing. He quoted me a price that was right within my budget and I scheduled my appointment in the office. 3 months later my teeth are so natural and exactly what I wanted. I've been a patient of Dr. Kourosh since I moved to LA 3 years ago. I genuinely wouldn't trust anyone else with my teeth. Everyone in the office treats me like family and ALWAYS in a good mood! I love them for that! When I walk in I feel excited to be back. Dr. Kourosh has performed root canals, changed my fillings and done my routine cleanings twice a year for 3 years. Every cleaning and procedure they did came out perfect and with no pain! ** Also, get there early !! They have massage chairs!!!!!!!!

They have the best service here. I came here to get my treatment for cleaning, filling and deep cleaning. They did the great job on my teeth and I always book my cleaning every 3 months with them. Dr. K is amazing. He went above an beyond to help me out. I needed quite a few things done and his office made it very easy on me. His hygienists are fantastic. Never have I ever had such an easy and painless deep cleaning. As a dentist himself, Dr. K is a master. I am very sensitive and without even letting him know this fact I didn't feel a single thing while he did the injection or work. During the filling I didn't feel a thing. On top of that it was extremely quick and comfortable. I love this office! Highly highly recommend to anyone.

I went in for a general cleaning as I was looking for a new dentist and I had such a great appt. The office is super clean, staff is very very friendly and really took the time to examine all my teeth and get to the bottom of things. They were very patient, gave good advice and also very gentle when working on my teeth. This is the best dentist I've ever been to. Everyone is super nice and professional. I've had a cleaning, filling, and root canal with them and they were all a breeze. I almost fell asleep during the filling. I never had any pain or felt stressed. The shape and color of cap for my root canal was a perfect match. They took great care in getting it just right. Susanna at the front desk is wonderful to talk to and she always goes above and beyond to answer my questions. Dr. Yousefzadeh is quick, professional, and caring. Smile LA has what you want from a dentist's office: a professional, friendly team, modern examination rooms, and efficient service! I had a bit of an emergency, and they took care of me that same day. Dr. K was nice and thorough, particularly because the procedure was more complicated than he initially thought. Their primary hygienist was also very careful, so you don't have to worry about getting your gums butchered. In short, highly recommended!

I've had to get 10 fillings over the past year and I have been to three different dentist and my experience at Smile has been far and above any other dentist I have been to. For one, you don't feel the local anesthetic application, other places you feel some pain during this and for two you can quickly tell Dr. K is a master at dentistry. Everybody is polite, genuinely nice and professional at Smila LA. After neglecting my teeth for many years, I was hesitant to go back to a dentist. I was expecting to hear that I would need to fix every tooth. My last dentist more than 6 years ago had told me that I had 5 or 6 cavities. Surprise, surprise! I only have 3 minor cavities now. I needed deep cleaning which was expected and that's about it. Dr K explained and showed everything to me and I felt confident that all the procedures are absolutely necessary.
