I've been a patient of Dr. Peterson for the past 4 years and highly recommend him. He has expertly performed multiple gum grafting procedures with excellent results. Earlier this year, my dentist diagnosed me with External Root Resorption on a molar and recommended extraction. An endodontist I consulted gave the same recommendation. Before giving up on the tooth, I decided to ask Dr. Peterson and I'm so glad I did! He was able to treat the resorption, prolonging my tooth's life when others thought it was hopeless. I feel lucky to have been referred to Dr. Christopher Peterson for my tooth resorption issue. The office, being located in Mission Hills near the hospital(s), has their own designated parking area. (A big win!) The moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly front office personnel. After checking in, I was offered my choice from a selection of beverages. The wait time was minimal and I was taken by the dental assistant for X-rays and then to the procedure room for the consult. Dr. Peterson arrived, introduced himself, did an examination of the tooth, proceeded to explain clearly and concisely the resorption issue, and outlined a plan to fix the tooth. His friendly and professional demeanor instantly made me feel comfortable (I am a bit dental-phobic) and at ease. I felt confident in his ability to fix the tooth. I met with Leslie, who walked me through the paperwork and costs. She put together a packet of the paperwork and scheduled a date for the procedure. All-in-all, the appointment went great. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Peterson and his staff to take care of any periodontal need that might occur.

First impression, as I visited the office only once so far: Dr. Peterson and his staff made me feel at ease and welcome. My anxiety about receiving a gum graft has waned substantially. Thank you. **** Update on November 12, 2024: After two months and a total of five visits to Peterson Periodontics in San Diego, my treatment is now complete. The gum graft has been successful, thanks to Dr. Peterson’s unparalleled technique and care. The whole process, while not pleasant, was relatively painless and free from complications such as infections. The actual intervention two months ago lasted approximately two hours. I was able to drive safely home to Los Angeles afterwards. The aftercare was exemplary too. Today my sutures were removed—again almost painlessly. I hope that this treatment has now arrested my gum recession for years to come. I will “baby those gums,” as Dr. Peterson advised. The whole office functions as a well-oiled machine, in a good way. As a patient I felt I was in good hands. Great vibes in the entire office. Thank you, Dr. Peterson!

While I wish I didn't need a gum grafts, I am so grateful I was referred to him for the procedure. Zero post-op discomfort. Low stress environment. (And when I popped a stitch the first 72 hours post-procedure, the office got me in right away to make sure everything was stable.) Totally recomend!

Edit: Just got the “pre-treatment estimate” and this office straight up LIED about everything. It says “Network: NONPARTICIPATING DENTIST.” They also lied and told me periodontitis is reversible so that i would keep coming back to them. Just fyi; dentists and periodontists make a 6 figure salary.. i’m pretty sure these reviews are bought and paid for, that or they usually don’t deal with people who need insurance; they probably only serve people who can drop $500 on a visit that was supposedly covered. Rich or not, i wouldn’t recommend them. You don’t keep wealth by throwing money in the garbage. Come here at your own risk; these people will lie to get you in the door and they WILL bait and switch you. S K E T C H Y. I want a full refund. Response: Yes i WAS a patient, i don’t use my real name on the internet.? And i believe that reviews are being removed from this business. Buyer beware. OG review: Soooo i’m definitely confused about all these good reviews and i’m wondering if they’re fake. Pre-appointment, we asked lots of questions: do you take our insurance? Yes. How much will our first visit be, tops, WITHOUT insurance covering any? $150. Do you do payment plans? Yes. Got there, had the appointment, and AFTER the appointment it’s: we MIGHT take your insurance and we’re not sure how much it covers… your bill is $400+ that is due NOW.. no we don’t take payments on first visits. We’re at a very awkward stage in switching and establishing careers and we asked these questions for a reason.. i feel like we were bait and switched BIG TIME. I had to fight tears on the way out. These people TOOK our money. We’re reporting them to any agency we can (including the Dental Board of CA). I can’t imagine we’re the only people they’ve done this to so i’m very confused about these reviews. This was NOT ok.

I have only had one visit, a consultation, with Dr. Peterson, after a highly recommended referral from my Dentist Dr. Albadri. Dr. Peterson conducted the exam and provided me a treatment plan and provided a clear cost breakdown. Since my insurance plan is an HMO, and the office only coordinates with PPO's the clarity of the cost breakdown was important. Once the actual procedure is completed I will provide additional comments. What I can now say is that. although the cost to me will be substantially higher, I intend to, and am grateful for, the opportunity to have Dr. Peterson and his staff on my care team. My confidence in a successful surgical outcome is high, and I look forward to a return to good health and an active lifestyle.

Pleasant and bright office, calm atmosphere for someone who's anxiety level goes way up at Dentist office. Dr Bruce Abe was referred to me a few years ago from a friend. I was a bit skeptical about going because I live in Orange County. In my mind, SD is a long drive for a dental procedure. But after some research on him, I pulled the trigger and made the appointment. Dr Abe is very informative and gives you al the information you need before proceeding with the work. And surprisingly, he's not one of the "scary dentists"... Very nice guy. He'll treat you more like a friend than a patient. And most important, his work is top notch. The staff is awesome as well. Receptionists are nice & friendly. Dr Abe's assistants, Barbara & Vicky, were kind and happy to assist whenever needed. I highly recommend him if you need some work done. I drove 1&1/2 hrs... I'm either a dumb**s or Dr Abe is a real Picasso. I say its the latter.

Dr. Peterson did my gum grafts at the recommendation of my dentist (who said he is tops in San Diego). He was extremely professional, competent and kind, and this experience was a breeze from start to finish. The only pain I experienced was when the shot to anesthetize the area was given, and that's just a normal dental experience. I had been putting this procedure off because it sounded scary, but it was absolutely NOT. I think that Dr. Peterson is the best in the business, and am recommending him to anyone I know who needs a periodontist. Also, the office staff is really good! Everything flowed, from setting appointments, to coordinating insurance, to follow up after the procedure. What a wonderful office this is!

Dr. Peterson and the office are incredibly friendly and welcoming the moment you walk-in. I filled out forms electronically prior to my appointment, and I could tell Dr. Peterson paid close attention to my answers. One small comment I made on the forms wasn’t terribly important to me, and even though I didn’t address it at the appointment, Dr. Peterson asked a clarifying question about it to ensure my treatment plan encompassed all my wants/needs. The office goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable, going so far as to include questions about how nervous going to the dentist makes you/what you need (music, dark lights, etc.) to help ease your nerves. What may be lacking in other offices, that you’ll surely get here, is: personalized attention to detail, compassionate bedside manner, and your voice being heard.

This is an excellent dental office. Dr. Peterson and his staff always make you feel comfortable and at ease. With the COVID-19 pandemic it can be a challenge to accommodate patients and keep them safe but Dr. Peterson's office has done an excellent job. They have implemented many features and protocols to make you feel safe when you enter the facility. I had to wait in my car until they texted me to let me in. It was necessary so that patients are not bumping into each other in the office. I appreciated that. Hannah, the hygienist that cleaned my teeth was very detailed and gentle with my teeth, she was kind and caring. She gave me good tips on how to better improve my oral hygiene. She did a thorough and excellent job cleaning them. I will see her again next time.

Although I did not have a full procedure performed today (that will be next week) everything else they did was spot on. Dr. Abe is amazing!! He was highly recommended by my VA Dentist, Dr. Sulter. Even though I had options much closer to my house, he was worth the drive. I had a crown lengthening procedure done and I was so nervous. I get so worked up that I get nauseated. He gave me some options for my procedure and I’m so glad I took his recommendation to be more comfortable. He and his assistant are efficient, knowledgeable, and care about their patients’ comfort and experience. Here I am seven hours post surgery and I ate mac n cheese and chicken noodle soup, no problem. I have a low pain tolerance and I feel ok with just the ibuprofen and Tylenol. The facility is clean and the staff professional and welcoming. They also have their own parking garage under the building! They have a text messaging system for appointment reminders, which comes in handy! During both of my visits, I was in and out very quickly. This office is efficient! Highly recommend!

First impressions are everything and it was a very comforting experience. I was very nervous as I don’t like mouth issues. And Dr Peterson was very patient, knowledgeable and took the time to give me options. Love this office.

My whole family uses Peterson and Abe. I recommend to everyone. They are gentle, professional, thorough, well educated, skillful and kind. A lovely office with lovely employees. I have never had a bad experience there. They take care of my cleaning and also have done surgery on me all with great results. They also take care of my elderly mother.
