**update 2/19/2025** DO NOT SIGN THE FORM THAT YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE TREATMENT UNTIL AFTER YOUR BRACES COME OFF! On the day your braces come off they have you sign that you are happy with your treatment but it’s a trap because you don’t know what your teeth will look like until after they are off and they make you sign it before you even know if you’ll like them or not! My teeth are hideous after treatment and even though it was their fault they’ve rid of fault by saying well you signed the form so that tells us you were happy and it ends the contract! They admitted they gave incompetent treatment but since I signed that form they think instead of making it right they can just brush it off because we are vulnerable!! They refused to give me a refund or start a new treatment because of that form! Heinous heinous place! They gave me flared teeth! So many different orthodontic drs took over my treatment and no one told me I need extractions in order to achieve that “Hollywood smile” I have been calling since December of 2024 to get a refund or some kind of solution to my flared teeth because I can’t even bite down from the front of my teeth and they keep telling me the managers are going to call me back and no one ever does it is now the end of January and no one has made an attempt to call me back! I have been calling weekly to speak to someone about this and they keep dodging me! I might have to get my lawyer involved. Stay away from this place or you’ll end up 5,000 short and a loss of confidence even worse from when you came in!

Would strongly recommend going else where. very difficult billing practices. I had a 1500 overpayment on my account that required multiple calls and months to be returned. I have had multiple issues with the retainers. I didnt purchase they replacement plan initially and now they will not allow me to switch. Lots of options for orthodontics choose carefully. My son had his braces on for about 18 months got them off a few months ago.

My experience at Orthodontic Experts of Rockford was deeply disappointing. What should have been an 18-month treatment stretched unnecessarily into five years due to repeated errors and a revolving door of over six different orthodontists. The lack of consistency and quality control resulted in a series of mistakes that ultimately left my teeth worse off. I had to seek treatment at another orthodontic office, where I had braces put back on to correct the extensive issues caused here. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this practice to anyone seeking reliable and competent orthodontic care.

Took my son and the ortho made it possible for the Medical Card to cover the cost of the braces as it was more than just cosmetic. His teeth pressed to hard together he couldnt floss between some and his jaw is a bit recessed. So far every step of the way has been a good experience. And my sons working towards teeth that match his smile. :) My son missed an appointment due to me being in the hospital having a baby and they were very accommodating about rescheduling him quickly. So far so good.

My son is going through phase 1 of getting braces. During one of his appointments I requested to go in the room with him because my son is too young to explain to me what is being done acter his appointment. It is ridiculous to have a child that young be in their appointments alone without a parent. They are terrible explaining what your appointments are for and what the next steps are. I am constantly having to ask what is going on. My last appointment we waited 45 minutes to be seen by the doctor, and to my surprise it was a totally different orthodontist. She was rushed and behind and didn’t introduce herself to me at all. She obviously didn’t even review my son’s file before she came in because she asked the assistant in the room a million questions about my sons teeth. I finally had to jump in and ask what was going on, and she explained Dr. Aten was no longer at their office and she was the new doctor. She then said “oh well we can start putting brackets on”. I don’t feel comfortable with this at all because she didn’t even review the previous doctor’s work, his chart, xrays or anything, but wants to slap braces on his teeth? I am extremely unsatisfied that we weren’t even notified that a new doctor would be taking over, especially since he had a treatment plan in place and she obviously didn’t even take the time to look. Also, my last eob billed to my insurance is still under Dr Aten’s name, even though he wasn’t even the doctor last time, which seems strange. I have been promised callbacks and still haven’t heard back from anyone. I am currently looking for a new place to go. Edit- as of 1/11/2024: it has been almost 2 years since we have come here and I am still having issues with Orthodontic Experts. They billed my insurance after we ended treatment there and received payment in November 2022. Dr. Kyle Aten is no longer a provider at this office. I am not understanding why they billed this claim to my insurance. This has caused me to max out on my orthodontic insurance benefits. I now owe $187.50 to my new orthodontist office. I have been calling them to resolve this and still have not spoken to anyone or received a callback. I am simply asking them to submit a corrected claim to my insurance so that my benefits can be restored back to me. This is billing fraud and I will be reporting them to the DOI. Please see image 7/23/2024: Dr. Aten sent a corrected claim and a narrative letter to my insurance admitting that they charged us for services after we had already ended treatment. Correspondence was issued 2/12/2024 to Orthodontic Experts to refund the overpayment amount of $187 back to me. We are almost in August 2024 and I still have not gotten the $187 back from them. We only went to this office from 11/6/2021-4/28/2022, however almost 3 years later I am still going through this ordeal.

I'm writing this review for transparency and awareness for the Rockford community. I set up an appointment to replace a set of retainers my son misplaced. I was informed I would have to pay a $50 consultation and it would be placed towards the cost of the retainers, no problem. Upon walking in we were registered placed in a sales pitch room and once I informed the employee I was there for retainers he told me he needed a second and had to speak to the orthodontist. Orthodontist walks in takes and without looking at my son tells me he would prefer not to do the procedure, I said ok so you haven't done anything what are we doing about the consult fee since no consulting was done? He then asks my son to sit in the chair looks at his teeth and attempts to point out what he feels were issues to justify keeping the money. Once the rep and orthodontist knew I wasn't there for a full set of braces and wasn't spending $4000 they didn't want to service us and I feel scammed. Upon setting up the appointment I was clear we needed to replace retainers and if isn't a service they wanted to do they should have refused. Be careful with this practice if you are looking for retainers, I would not recommend. 10 minutes in a waiting chair cost me $50 bucks

I recommend not to do autopayments. Their customer service/billing department is a joke and not helpful. I was able to make the full payment and was told the autopayments would stop. Now i have over paid by 2 autopayments. When i first called, billing dept made it seem like it was something that could be fixed and i would get the money back within a few business days as it was on their end for not stopping the autopayments but she would call me back after talking with the rockford office. She never called me back. I called back to follow up and now im being told is not answering and all the answering service can do is an email for billing to get back at me.

Unfortunately this place has not been fair to us at all. In Aug i had an appointment scheduled for my son however they didnt have the correct information for me and whomever they sent reminders to was unprofessional. The day of my appointment we got it updated and rescheduled which was a month out. Once again i got no reminders so i got nervous and called and am being told they have no reason why the appointment isnt scheduled. Manager wouldn't call me back in a timely manner and cannot schedule anything for us. This is absolutely none of our fault and 100% on them and 0 support to resolve it once again. Very unfortunate and unprofessional. Dont recommend this place.

Horrible experience the last two times we come here!!! Even with us scheduled with an appointment we show up 15 mins early. We had an appointment scheduled at 4pm the reception had everyone else going into the room that arrived after us scheduled at the same time. We take a speedytaxie so our time frame is very minimum. It’s 4:33 and we still are waiting while they call everyone else that arrived AFTER. It’s 4:45 and we are leaving. They had asked me to remove a picture of the Receptionist due to HIPPA but I see a review under mine that has plenty of workers. Why because mine is a bad Review?!

From our very first appointment, we have had an excellent experience. The staff, from the front desk receptionists to the Dentist himself- Dr. Aris, everyone is so friendly! Carmen explained billing very clearly, answered all questions and was so sweet! All of the hygienists we have worked with have been so kind and gentle. The wait time is short and there is a lot of appointment availability. I definitely recommend this office.

I've had my son's orthodontic work done here since day one (we're on round two now.. Braces after an expander), and the personnel are fantastic! Friendly up front staff, and our appointments have always been met on time with very small wait times. All details are explained both to me (the parent), as well my son (the patient), thoroughly enough so that we understand and are comfortable and understand what's happening with the experience of each visit. I'm pleased to say my daughter will be receiving her braces from Orthodontic Experts when her time comes as well. I highly recommend!

Unprofessional and frankly disrespectful of people’s time. They sent me multiple emails/texts asking for me to fill out two forms before my consult, only for them to ask for the same information upon check-in because they apparently have no way of accessing the forms online. Why have customers do it then? On top of that, both their website and my insurance provider’s website state that they take my insurance (Humana), yet I’m advised upon arrival that they do not take Humana (which I noted in the forms that they apparently don’t look at). I took time off of work for this consultation. Management needs to make changes. Front desk staff was very polite despite my frustrations.

Two of my daughters got braces from Orthodontic Experts and I have been happy with the entire process. The adjustment appointments don't take long, but the only thing I would want to be different is when sending the child out to the waiting room (or during Covid-parents had to wait outside in car), that the staff either send a quick note on the paper that says come back in 7 weeks. A lot of the times I knew it would just be an adjustment, but those small amount of times where rubber bands are needed, not needed, or wore different, the parent isn't notified. It would be nice for the note to say what was done at the current appointment along with the return date for next adjustment. Sometimes I would have to wait in line just to ask what happened at the appointment or why does my daughter need braces now. The child doesn't always remember what to tell the adult post appointment. Other than that, the entire experience was great, and my daughter gets her braces off dec. 14th. She is very pleased with the process as well. def recommend!

I’ve been going here a little over six months. The process is easy they have multiple options for braces options. Invisalign, regular braces and iconix. I picked the iconix options because it was kinda cool and you can have multiple colors of your choice. The staff are great not rude at all. I would definitely recommend them to any one in life. Daughter had a consult w/ xRays and was recommended to get braces w/ a spacer for a year and a retainer for a year after. We paid for the braces in full $2700 that day and scheduled the appointment for 2 weeks out. When we arrived to get the braces put on the Orthodontist changed the procedure to a separator (look it up, not fun!) only and no braces. The place is updated and staff is friendly. But don’t be fooled. They tried to change the procedure without telling me! Please get a few recommendations before choosing this orthodontist. I will NOT recommend them!

My dentist recommended this place for my teeth, and let me just say, this place looks stunning right as you waltz on in! I like the type of brand Orthodontics Experts is going for and their environment reflects their quality charm. I have heard more positives than negatives from the other patients that go here regularly, and they give me confidence about the quality and care that I should expect from my Orthodontic Experts experience. (Based on initial consultation)- Everyone I interacted with at Orthodontic Experts from beginning to end of my visit were extremely helpful and accomodating. All of my questions were answered to the fullest extent and if someone did not know the answer to my question, rather than giving me false information, they admitted they didn't know but found the answer for me which I respect and appreciate. Aimee and Karmen were both very kind, personable, and professional. The Check-in was very easy and they were exceptionally transparent about timing, pricing, the procedure, and needs of the patient. There was no beating around the bush. They made it very hard to want to go anywhere else. Thank you to everyone here.

I cannot comment on the technical expertise of the orthodontists at this place, however, I can make some presumptions on the culture of this practice. They certainly do not act on the patients best interest and they undoubtedly raise ethical concerns, as I have noticed others have mentioned as well. I went in for a consulting appointment to get braces for the first time, as an adult. I have near perfect straight upper teeth but some small gaps for the lower. I was told I would need braces for 6-8 months for my lower teeth, which is really what I wanted. They sent me two quotes, one for just my bottom teeth and one (lower and top) just in case I changed my mind, which I didn’t. I received both but something didn’t make sense. I sent them an email asking why the costs were so high. She gave me a call back and said that they had made a mistake, that she didn’t get the right numbers from the insurance. My insurance covers $2,500. She then says that after some evaluations they would now both be almost the same price, $200 difference, in other words, they didn’t want to give me the options to just get my lower teeth done as I had wanted because they weren’t getting the $4,000 for 6 months just for my bottom teeth. After, I told her I work in finance, and the numbers aren’t making any sense, she said she’d call me again. I was sincerely embarrassed for her at this point. I knew she wasn’t going to call again. In other words, go elsewhere. 1st Quota: (Top + Bottom) $5,700 18 mo., (Lower) $4,000 6 mo. 2nd: (Top + Bottom) 4,000 18 mo., (Lower) $4,000 6 mo.

My daughter’s teeth are looking very good and I am very happy with the outcome of the work they’ve done. However, working with them is unbelievably complicated. Their hours are 7:00am to sometimes early in the afternoon. Knowing that the majority of their patients are children, who should be in school during the day, this makes no sense. I had to take my daughter out of school early or send her in late just to make it to the appointments. As a parent, I had to take time off work to go to the appointments. This week, I took time off 3 times. The employees are trying to help, and be nice, but the reality is that the company’s ours are not chosen with the clients in mind. I have insurance through my job, and I am able to pay for the difference of cost because I am present at my job. The owner(s) of this business do not realize where their income is coming from, and have absolutely no regard for their clients’ work life. When I could not make it to the appointment at the time they decided that I should’ve, I got a text message pretty much blaming my choices and making me aware that I was responsible if thins went wrong, but they won’t work with me to find a way (at the time, I had requested time off work 2 times in the same week). I ended up asking for time off the 3rd time in a week for “a very short appointment” that was discussed to start at 7:00 am but it ended up being scheduled for 7:15 at (without my agreement), and my daughter got out the door at 7:40am. No big deal, right? To make the things even better, my daughter’s retainer did not fit. They offered a new appointment: 9:00am or 11:00am, on weekdays, duh! Bottom line, unless the client is a stay-at-home parent, business owner, living on welfare and homeschooling their kids, working with orthodontic experts in Rockford is a mess. Hopefully, next week I still have a job so I can pay their bill.

I would give zero stars if I could. They have you text when you get there. I pulled up at 15 minutes early texted and wait 30 minutes texted again and the told me to “come in”....... When I got in they told me I was late and could only do pictures and would have to come back next week I told them “no you had me waiting out there” they said “well our internet must be acting up”........ I will not be missing work pulling my kids out of school and coming back to this place.... They’ll wast your time and shrug their shoulders at you.

One is dont miss your payment because it is a $50 late fee on top of that they will not see you, my daughter started with them but since I could not get her in to be seen, I went elsewhere to see if someone else could finish the work they started. Today I got her in to see Dr. Flanagan and his assistant who where amazing by the way and truly care about there patients. First off I was told by him that my daughters overbite could not be corrected by braces and she neede jaw surgery and wondered if orthodontic experts had informed me of this when we started treatment which they never did, how careless so braces need to come off she needs surgery and about 6-8 weeks of recovery and then we can talk about braces. He offered to take off braces and make retainers for her until we made a decision. I would not recommend this place as money is all they see and could care less about their patients. If you go here at least get a second opinion as it was not worth the frustration and ignorance of the doctors not to mention this at the initial visit. If I could give zero stars I would but to post this I have to give them one star they don't deserve. STAY AWAY spend the extra money and get the service you deserve.

I have tried to turn my payments on for my braces two times. Talking to customers service and they wouldn’t turn them back on. So my payments were on HOLD not turned off because of this COVID. They also were not letting anyone in for appointments or for me to get my rubber bands which i needed at the time. Customer service is horrible & no one answers there phone. They haven’t tighten my braces in about 4 mouths. I went in for my appointment today and they couldn’t see me because I owe money when I put my account on hold. I just started making payments again and they still won’t see me. This is ridiculous. Wouldn’t go to them for braces or Invisalign.

I had an appointment today and they had told me to call when I was outside because of COVID-19 and I called. When I called they told me to text them instead, so I texted them waiting for a text back so I could go inside.15 minutes passed and I called again and they had me waiting for another 10 minutes, by this time it had been 25-30 minutes from the time of my appointment. When they finally picked up they told me I missed my appointment and I needed to reschedule, now I have to wait another week to get my braces.

Nothing but a fantastic experience all the way around here. My insurance did not cover adult orthodontics so I had to pay all the cost. Carmen (treatment coordinator) was great at finding a payment plan that worked with my budget. This was a huge relief! Then they were able to fit me in for an appointment later that day to have my braces put on. Everyone was very professional and made me feel very comfortable. Which is a big deal because I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to dental work! I highly recommend them for orthodontic work and I will be bringing my daughter here when she is ready for her braces.

Update 2: AND there is a new doctor with zero notice. I’ll admit that is a little alarming given there was nothing said about a new doctor before we showed up. Sounds very disorganized. Updating from original post: While I’m still happy with the care my daughter has received from the doctor and staff, I am extremely unhappy with the scheduling. Their schedule is not consistent and it has become a struggle to get appointments made, and my schedule is quite flexible so that’s saying something. I scheduled the normal 7 weeks out and was called to be told I had to move the appointment because they were closing that day. so I moved the appointment. Then when I called to let them know I had 2 sick kids and needed to change it they couldn’t get her in for 4 more weeks! That is completely unacceptable and really bad business. I am extremely impressed with the care of the staff. Carmen has been so patient and kept me well informed on the process. I am very happy to be starting ortho for my oldest daughter with them. I have 3 more kids to go and will definitely be coming here for their treatment as well.

Update: Orthodontic Experts was prompt in their response to my concerns. They did their best to address each concern and work towards a resolution. My wish is that they had consistent Saturday’s available, but I understand that’s not always an option. They did their best to accommodate me for Saturday’s going forward. Their current working business hours just don’t meet my needs. Original post: Every single time I need to get ahold of this place it’s constant phone tag, or I never hear back at all. Now I have a dental emergency where I have a loose wire and all they can tell me is that it will be two weeks until I can be seen. Last time I had an evening appointment and I went back to the chairs, two of the dental technicians continued talking for well over a minute (they had no patients) until one of them decided to ask if I needed something. Everyone is nice until you need something and they can never accommodate you.

I've had the worst experience from the beginning. Extremely excited to start the treatment, I signed up that same day. They gave me a great deal and put on my braces. The guy that signed me up messed up my paperwork, went against company policy because he didn't know what he was doing (Mind you, I found out 3 months later after they weren't withdrawing money from my account). I had called and spoke to the call center several times and expressed my concern. They always had fresh faces and fired all the past individuals and I had to explain my issue to each individual (headache). The Dr. at the time didn't focus on each individual patient or have the time to take each appointment as if I were human. The technicians were always to busy talking about their personal lives that the work they did was incorrect. I always had to come in that same day or same week (taking time out of my Job) to get the wire, etc fixed. I was extremely fed up. This is the 3rd time I've had to talk to them about why I received a bill in the mail, instead of then withdrawing from my account (in contract agreement) and after the call center hung up on me 3 times not wanting to hear me. I explained to them that I'm pregnant and I'm having sensitive issues with my braces and I need them taken off until my child is born. And that I would continue treatment 3months afterwards. They finally transferred me to the new manager that is now at the Rockford Location and he only gives me a solution of paying $1300 to take off my braces. After all this headache, I would rather be done and give up on braces. Extremely disappointed!
No business likes to see themselves fail with a customer. This is even more so in the dental and orthodontic professional field and in which we care for patients. Here at Orthodontic Experts we are helping our guests to get better smiles and overall confidence while at the same time take care of their oral health. In doing so, we enter into contract agreements with our guests to hold us accountable for their care and treatment, while at the same time holding the guest accountable for taking care of their braces and stay on task for timely treatment. These contracts also cover the financial responsibilities of both Orthodontic Experts and the guest. The financial aspects of this guest’s contract were not set up correctly from the beginning. Multiple attempts to correct the situation fell through the cracks and no money was withdrawn from the guest’s account for 3 months. Kimberly, Stan has emailed you multiple options to continue treatment or remove your braces should you make that decision. Our ultimate goal is to provide you with a wonderful guest experience and offer you a comfortable financial arrangement. Please reach out to our office so we can work this out together.

I giving one star to the most unprofessional receptionist that is in the front desk . I had to wait for her to get my sons next appointment because the receptionist was really busy on the phone talking and laughing and I’m there standing with my kids for her to finish her conversation over the phone with a friend it’s so annoying she really needs to be more professional , if she was talking to a patient I would understand but she was laughing without even caring that we were there waiting for her , the worst part is that she didn’t even hang up she told the person that she was talking to to hold on and she just told me the date of my appointment she didn’t even took the time to give me the appointment card or my sons point so ridiculous, overall the other staff are so professional except for the receptionist

They always get us in fast. We wait like a minimum 5 minutes and I appreciate That since we all know drs love to keep you waiting. They are always kind to me and my daughter. The assistants are wonderful I havent Met one yet that had a bad attitude. I also Personally love that they get on my child for her brushing skills (it takes a village). The dr is awesome. Her appointments last maybe 20 minutes they get her in they change the colors and we are out. If of course she’s broken a bracket or whatever it takes longer but that’s expected. We have had a wonderful experience here. My daughter had an issue with her wire and was very emotional about it but the ladies in the back were very sensitive to her feelings. They were helpful on what I needed to do at home to make sure my daughter's weren't uncomfortable after tightenings. The employees always give them tips on how to stay in routine with flossing. I would highly recommend this place.

I am beyond thankful for the help Orthodontic Experts has given. My son's teeth were not "bad enough" for his medical card to cover his braces. So it all comes out of my pocket or he has to wait until I get better insurance. This place is amazing! This was my first time here and I had such a great experience! The ladies were so helpful with everything I needed and the dentist was great. He was so enthusiastic and I got the impression that he genuinely loves his job! After the x-rays he gave me options and that's something I've never had before! Not from anyone in this kind of field, they usually just say, "this is what we need to do!" There's all kinds of drawings and give aways, bracelets for the kids and great reading materials for us adults! This place is really clean and comfortable and has great parking! Orthodontic Experts were recommended to us and since the Orthodontist that we had used before retired, we decided to make an appointment. I have to say, I wasn't expecting the treatment that my son received at all. Every team member treated us as if THEY were waiting all day just to see US. Judy, the front desk member was very personable and we were seen very promptly. Judy explained the point system and my son already has his goal set. My son was nervous, but was soon put at ease by the technicians Kristin, Anne and Ashlie who explained each step of the process to him. At the end of the visit we were told to expect to hear back from the insurance company in around 4 weeks. We were contacted the very next day and made an appointment for bonding. My son now has his braces on. I had a very thorough meeting with the financial consultant Laura, and left very informed and confident that we made the right choice in choosing Orthodontic Experts of Rockford. What I appreciate the most was that he left there WANTING to do a great job taking care of his teeth and braces and that makes it so much easier on me. It is very Obvious through witnessing several interactions between the Manager Somi and her staff that it is a great working atmosphere and in turn it benefits the patients. We are looking forward to our time with this great team and would highly recommend Orthodontic Experts of Rockford to those who want a great smile!

I love the atmosphere of this place. I've visited 2 others and the facilities were just shameful. At Orthodontic Experts of Rockford, you will enter a clean inviting atmosphere. No clutter, your not sitting right on top of others and it smells great. The staff is always pleasant and prompt. It's been a long time since I have been to a place where you can tell they truly love what they do and actually care for the patients. Best part is that I have not a cranky receptionist yet. I am so happy that I was referred to this place. My son is overjoyed with the thought of getting braces and I have to give that credit to the dentists and all the other staff. He thought he would look ugly with them and that people will make fun of him. After our first visit his mind was changed. I highly recommend this business.

It is much bigger than it appears on the outside and it is obvious that much thought went into the design.The staff was helpful and answered all questions.
