Please please please read all the negative comments. I know their rating seems good but a those that had something negative to say are very accurate! I read the good reviews and the bad reviews and as a first time potential patient I can say the negatives are what you need to focus on. I had an appointment Dec 11th 2024 and when I got there early people were already waiting in the parking lot for them to open. Come 9am (the time they open and my appointment) the waiting room was nearly full and I was not called until 9:35am. When I got back there you can tell they are overbooked and all the techs are tending to the patients. By the time k was finished the doctor came in at the very end just to tell me the time frame she recommends and that’s it. I had three questions so in all of I’m being generous she was in there about 5 mins then she was gone. I ended up going with a different orthodontist for my ceramic braces and they cover up to two years after the braces come off for $2300 total package I got. One coworkers went to where I did and my other one that also lives in Algonquin will go as well to take her son once I told her not to book this place. Hopefully this honest review helps someone :)

Some of there employees don’t know what they are doing and kept hurting my mouth. They also kept having to go get help. Then after I finished paying for the braces, my teeth weren’t fixed yet so they said they would make me pay $250 dollars per visit until they were done. They also sprung this on me with no warning. It’s just not run very well.

I have had nothing but problems over the last year with my braces. I have a crown that requires a special bracket. Unfortunately, they do not carry the specific fitting for it, nor do they actually order it when I have been told it has been. This is a reoccurring issue! I have called and told they will follow up. They never do. You have to route through a call center where people are never helpful. Overall, my experience has been less than lacking luster. It is very unfortunate because the dr herself is very sweet. If you're looking for braces, I would look elsewhere, and if you do choose these guys, I hope your experience is better than mine.

I have never hated an orthodontist office so much in my entire life. It’s basically just a bunch of people who barely know what they’re doing fooling around in your mouth. I don’t know how many times they have cut, damaged, or bruised my gums. If you have the option I would go nowhere near this place there are 100% better ortho’s to go to who will give you a much more pleasant experience. Half the time the people are rude or have you sitting there forever waiting in the chair cause they’re too busy talking about stuff not relating to work at all. I pray for anybody who plans on trusting these people with their teeth.

If I can help someone with their health, money, and time, I will. This location is fairly priced compared to their competitors, but it is not worth it. Each visit, you have a different Dr. Check in on you. Imagine treating something permanent in your body and having different doctors trade you off for every treatment. Would you be comfortable with that if you were treating a different part of your body? I was left uncertain about taking off aligners but was assured that the permanent retainers would fix it. When it didn't, 2 months later, I went to address my concerns and was told it would cost me $250 for a consultation to begin treatment again. They said that once treatment is over, you have to pay to be seen. Otherwise, I would not be able to see anyone. This was simply to point out that my teeth had not shifted because of the retainers. Be aware that you are not able to contact anyone after treatment is over without paying that amount. Other orthodontist offices will see you 2 years after removal to see if there are any changes that need to be fixed as your teeth adjust. My own dentist told me that I would need further treatment and consult with other orthodontists. Dentists get minimal, if any, study in the area of orthodontic treatment, and even he could see the issue.

If I could, I wouldn't give this place any stars. The people at the desk aren't friendly at all. My daughter needed braces due to an impacted canine and straightening her teeth. She's had braces for over 2 years. The gaps in her teeth aren't closed and don't appear to have gotten closer together at all. Her canine is still stuck up in her gums, not coming down. And they ended up recommending removal of the braces for "the health of her teeth" and closing out her treatment plan. I argued closing her treatment plan because nothing got fixed, but I got nowhere. Iwas forced to sign a liability form in order for them to remove her braces. These people should be shut down. They got their money, and our insurance won't cover another round of orthodontic treatment.

Most unprofessional establishment I’ve ever stepped foot in. Everytime I go, I arrive on time for my SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT, and I end up sitting there for over half an hour. While I’m getting my braces done, the staff is constantly messing up, or gets preoccupied with another patient. When I’m getting a long service done, they don’t care about my comfortability. I tell them the thing in my mouth is uncomfortable or ask to take a break, and I get denied every time. The clinic hours on the door say open until 5pm, but I tried going in to get a letter of when I will be getting my braces removed at 3pm, and the doors were locked. Tried calling them, and the lady had a very heavy accent I couldn’t understand. They say they will email me the letter I was looking for, but it’s been 2 weeks and nothing. The staff are all under the age of 20 it seems like, so they have no idea what is happening with orthodontics. The building is in the most confusing spot, and I can never find it. They only have 1 doctor who works there, and it seems like she’s only there half the time. And when she is there, she gets busy with other patients over me. 1/5 do not recommend anyone coming here.

I have had the worst experience here. They never update parents on progress. Honestly if I could get a full refund and go elsewhere I would but unfortunately already over a year in. It's always the assistants doing the work rarely ever the actual orthodontist. Went to an appointment yesterday 10/12, a bracket broke before we even made it home and today another one. It's like pulling teeth trying to actually reach the office. I would not recommend. They're like the mcdonalds of orthodontics.

I waited a long time to post this review. I was a patient about 2-3 years ago and this place is absolutely awful. There is such a long list for me but I will start with the basics. Making an appointment was always dreadful - horrible to get times you may need. When they removed my braces the bracket was really stuck and they yanked it really hard so now I have issues with my tooth (possible root canal) and lots of sensitivity to cold. The also removed my braces and made an imprint to my clear retainers which they then called me and said I would have to have it redone after a week of waiting because of imaging issues. Which added more waiting time. Then I had to come back in to have it redone and then mysteriously they had my retainer from the messed up scan because I made a fuss about it. It compromised my results. Not to mention the lady that was doing the scan was really rough and almost knocked my teeth out. Yes, they wear gloves but she was all in my mouth and then started touching the screen with the same gloves and then put it back in my mouth. How many dirty gloves have touched that screen and then were put back in my mouth? This was during the covid era too. Now, lets get to their wonderful permanent retainer packages. It costs $100 per tooth to have it fixed. They put them in so flimsy that my first bottom one fell off completely before my one year post removal. $350 to replace. Fine, I did that. Now my upper is loose and I inquired about possibly removing them because I was told to remove them is free. Now they are stating its $125 to have the top removed. On top of all of that, each time you have it replaced your clear retainer will more than likely need to be replaced as well. So, what's the point of the mold imprint they sell you? Its a money trap. This place does not do honest business. Run. Far better places out there. This is a chop shop of a business. My nieces have an ortho that replaces their permanent retainers at no costs and removes them at no costs too. Unlimited. I would never send my son here when its that time.

This is not where you want to take your children for ortho work. The lobby is always packed and you wait a minimum of half hour before even getting back to see the doctor. My son's last appointment they "forgot" to call me to tell me they made a "mistake" with the order and they couldn't do the appointment. You can't go back with your child to see what they are doing or ever talk to the ortho himself and no numbers go directly to their office, you always call a customer service number and they get in touch and you never hear back. Pay the extra money and go elsewhere, they are about quantity.

I can’t wait to be done with this place. My daughter and I dread every time we come here. They are petty about every single thing scheduling is a nightmare it’s not on your time it’s on theirs. Payments are hectic if you want to change something a card or due date they make it difficult. Please save your time and money don’t come here for the savings because you will not save yourself from the hassle. Also staff needs to be more professional (front desk)Algonquin location. One morning I came in and sat in the chairs where the sun was I was so uncomfortable and hot so I moved my chair to the corner where the tv was (shaded) and I was told to move my chair back and I couldn’t sit there for “safety reasons” I asked what is the safety issue I’m not blocking anything and they said something about the tv. Again petty and rude I just sat in my car didn’t feel welcomed.

I don’t recommend this place. The staff is unprofessional and inconsiderate, the treatment is subpar. The sad part is that they don't care about their patients' needs or satisfaction. Save yourself the hassle and find another orthodontist that values your time and prioritizes quality service. This place only care about your money, as soon as they get your money they are done with you. My daughter left the office in tears because they messed up her smile and they blame it on her. The female manager that claimed to be the director didnot care at all about my daughter crying. Instead she said there is nothing we can do. Now we are going to another orthodontist to get her retreated. And I am moving my other child and her 2 cousins that we referred to anther orthodontist that cares more about the patient not just the $$.

My experience at this dental office was beyond disappointing. The staff was consistently unprofessional and often dismissive of my concerns. I frequently had to wait long periods before receiving treatment, and they didn't accommodate afternoon appointments. To make matters worse, the TWO Invisalign retainer I purchased had been sitting in their office for A MONTH AND A HALF and nobody contacted me. I had confirmed on my last appointment when I paid for them that they would ship it to me. Yet, they claim the importance of maintenance. When I tried to address this issue with the staff, they were unresponsive and unhelpful. Furthermore, the treatment I received was subpar, and they made several mistakes during my visits. I had to return to the office multiple times to correct their errors, which was very frustrating and time-consuming. To top it all off, the staff begged for glowing reviews at every appointment, even though their service was subpar. This was incredibly dishonest and unethical. Overall, I strongly advise against visiting this dental office. The staff is unprofessional and inconsiderate, the treatment is subpar, and they don't seem to care about their patients' needs or satisfaction. Save yourself the hassle and find another dental office that values your time and prioritizes quality service. (look at all these other negative reviews, they are there for a reason)

They were very nice to my children, and I'm happy his ortho treatment so far. My only complaint is their timing for seeing patients. We had an appointment for first thing in the morning, and they literally took everyone that came in after my son, making his appointment start 30 minutes late. Why am I scheduling at a time that they don't have for him.

Terrible place, would not recommend. Most of the staff are extremely unprofessional. Retainers break easy and they charge you $300-400 to replace. The overall score does not reflect the real service, because patients are bribed to give a good review. New young Iraqi doctor is worse than the Asian doctor that was there before.

The plastic product they use to make retainers is very cheap as all my sons retainer broke after using them for 3 months. To replace them is almost $400. Don’t give them your buisness, they are only in this buisness to make money out of people who take their children to get braces, they don’t care about their patients. Not to mention, they don’t understand how insurances works either, I owe them more money too so these people are scammers! Read the other reviews on how they don’t understand what portions insurances are to pay.

Dr. Hiroshi was very thorough with his work. You can tell how knowledgeable he is. I came here for a second opinion since my daughter needs braces. Come to find out she needs more than that due to damage to the roof of her mouth and damage to her gums on the bottom of her teeth due to and overbite and her teeth being angled. I had known she needed braces for a few years but i needed to wait for her baby teeth to fall out in order to proceed with getting her braces. Through out the wait the issue with her gums and roof of her mouth was never addressed. Tara is the office manager. She made sure we understood the process and was very helpful! The staff explained the procedure using a video so my daughter could understand as well. Im thankful I found this place!

I will start with the time I had to Replace my first daughter’s retainer as well as her permanent retainer. The permanent retainer should be in fact permanent but in fact broke after the first month of being in as one of her two sets retainer broke as well . Call and was told the metal they use doesn’t just break and if we want it replaced we would have to pay because it is only covered for 2 weeks . (Side thought Permanent means permanently if they stood behind their quality why only covered for two weeks.?) so that money was just wasted and paid for new set of retainers after a month those snapped in the back by the molars called again and was told again it is past any Replacement coverage. So she has gone without for some time now . Fast forward to present Back in the office today to get replacement Retainers for both my daughter’s teeth today12/20/2021 . We also Purchased the bronze package in order to get two sets of retainers oldest daughter got both younger did not . Wasn’t worried at the time of pick up for molds thinking it was just on file a second set was owed . Went into office today And was told younger daughter received both sets of retainers which is not the case office manager over talked me over talked the doctor in the office just to get her point across saying she double checked all records saying both retainers have been obtained false statement. As she tired to get me to set an appointment for my younger daughter to have her teeth check out for movement. I explained to her that when we came to pick up molds retainer was not on mold as she started. My older daughter received two cases with retainers in each. Now I was told the second retainer comes on mold. Might be the case with some but not ours . I am very disappointed in the service we received not to mention the poor Quality of retainers permanent retainers and replacement retainers that I have spent over $1,200 for. I would not Recommend this place for any service after the braces come off of their teeth. Should have been a red flag in the start of this when the office manager and doctors change so Frequently in this location. signed Very disappointed customer

I would advise anyone thinking about using them to think again and do more research. I used them for 2 of my kids and while in the beginning everything was good, towards the end it became a nightmare for us. We are very disappointed how the billing and insurance and the communication process was handled by these guys. We were told one thing to only find out later that we still owed them thousands more between the 2 kids. Don't go by the 5 star ratings u see. They are marketing themselves very hard by using points/gifts to get good reviews. A very disappointed customer!!

This place is the best place to get your braces! Everyone is extremely nice and friendly. I felt like I was walking in and hanging out with family and friends. It’s such a homey feel! They take the time to help you learn what exactly you’re getting into and what they will be doing. They are also very safe and clean and make sure you feel safe with COVID around. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this location. :)

Not pleased with the overall experience to date. Hesitant from the first encounter with the office manager. Gave them a chance and have regretted it since. We are too far in now to switch to another ortho. Terrible customer service on numerous occasions. Terrible communication to parents. You never hear from them on what they were doing, progress, or what is needed. The vet does a better job.. Lack of follow ups to make sure appointments are scheduled timely as compared to other providers.

Everyone is very friendly. The initial consultation was more than I expected for my daughter which is great as I'd rather have everything explained upfront in one appointment rather than multiple appointments. Check in with their text system is convenient and my daughter is usually on time when they say she is to go inside the building. First of all the blasted my child with radiation. The did two panoramic x-rays on my 12 year old. I’ve Learned that it’s illegal to expose someone to that much radiation in one visit. I’m disgusted in this practice and will be seeking legal actions
Hi Ryan. We definitely understand your concern regarding radiation. You are correct, we take two X-ray at new patient consultations (Panoramic and Cephalometric). Those X-rays allow us to properly diagnose and treat your child's orthodontic problems. They are also recommended by American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) as a gold standard set of diagnostic records https://www.aaoinfo.org/system/files/media/documents/2014%20Cllinical%20Practice%20Guidelines.pdf Our practice uses very high-quality digital X-ray equipment with very low radiation levels. The amount of radiation of two X-rays on our machine equals to the amount of background radiation an average person gets in 2 days of leading their normal lives. We love this office! Wonderful staff, and their appointment times actually mean what they say. You don't have to wait around forever to get in. The women in the administrative side are an absolute pleasure to work with and make sure to thoroughly present all options to you, including breaking up payments without shoving CareCredit down your throat. We went for a consultation after reading they offer phase one braces for children as young as 7. First they asked for all of my personal information, including my social (I declined to give it) for a consultation. Weird. They made us do x-rays, on my 11 year old, not standard. After exposing my son to the X-ray, the ortho refused to treat my son until all of his molars were out! I found the gentlemen to be ARROGANT and rude. It was not the old owner it is the current owner. Not considerate of people’s time. Very sloppy with paperwork, front staff was also rude. They offer gift cards for good reviews, that’s why there are so many.
Hi Flix. Thank you for you feedback. We take X-rays and other necessary records to properly diagnose patient's orthodontic condition and needs and customize treatment plans to each patient. The fact that we offer treatment to children as young as 7 doesn't mean that every 7 year old child will require treatment. If the treatment wasn't recommended to your son at this time, than it's not needed. We do not put braces on every person walking through our doors, only the ones who can benefit from them.

My experience at orthodontic experts has been so great! From Judy at the front desk to the staff in the back everyone was super nice, friendly and accommodating. I went fairly often throughout my treatment and it ended Up feeling like home! The doctor is a perfectionist, which is good if you want perfect teeth :) He is always transparent, explained everything thoroughly, and the staff had a great sense of humor whenever I tried to get away with wearing my rubber bands less. I was driving from Algonquin to Rockford but now they have an office in town. I highly recommend orthodontic experts to everyone.

The environment is kid friendly, clean They were able to get my daughter braces with an affordable down payment and a monthly plan for the remainder balance. I was Dr. Sexson's patient 2 years ago. Him and his staff weren't friendly and didn't engage with me much. I felt rushed through, and I barely ever saw Sexson unless my parents were present. Once I got my braces off, my bottom "permanent" retainer fell off shortly after. My mom called numerous times to ask for a return call from Sexson but she never received one. Since then, my teeth have shifted and I am at a new orthodontist getting them corrected. Highly recommend researching other orthodontists before going to this one.

My son was a patient for nearly three years for his braces. During this time - we were not very impressed with Dr. Sexson nor his staff. They consistenly gave my son poor grades on his oral hygiene - which is quite ironic as I work in a dental office (they didn't know this of course) and he was receiving cleanings and exams every three months, using an ETB and threaders... Going thru braces and retainers/head gear/etc is a LONG process and you are locked into your Dr once you begin financially - I encourage you to do some shopping around before you choose Dr. Sexson. The only times he spent 'quality time' - if any - with my son is when I went in back with him - his assistants did more then he did! Finally the braces are off and we can cut our ties with this office! :(

Highly recommend! 10/10 From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. The staff is by far one of the sweetest and most knowledgeable I’ve come across in the medical field. The dental assistant was so kind and funny, the dentist felt like she truly cares about her patients and wants the best treatment for them. Carrie explained the treatment plan and cost in full & made sure we had no questions at the end. The office is beautiful, bright, and clean. Overall 5 star experience. We went to another consult prior to this at a different dentist, but we are so glad we found this office because it feels like exactly where we are meant to be.
