I rarely leave Google reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with Dr. Spina and his team after the overwhelmingly positive care I received—I CANNOT RECOMMEND CHICAGO SURGICAL SPECIALISTS ENOUGH!! After a less-than-ideal experience with my previous oral surgeon, where equipment failure left me with only two wisdom teeth removed and a traumatic memory of being insufficiently sedated, I was understandably anxious about finding someone to finish the job. That is when I found Dr. Spina—and I cannot stress enough how incredible he and his team were throughout the entire process. From the moment I contacted his office, Dr. Spina was extremely accommodating and managed to squeeze me in as quickly as possible after I told him my situation. I am an anxious person by nature, and I was feeling especially scarred after my previous procedure. That said, as soon as I stepped into Dr. Spina’s office, I felt completely at ease. His team was welcoming and professional, and the atmosphere in the office—complete with what seemed to be state-of-the-art medical technology—was modern, clean, and calming. Dr. Spina himself exceeded every expectation I could have had. Dr. Spina was extremely thorough during my pre-op consultation, taking the time to explain my situation and potential complications in great detail, and he even offered alternative treatment options. It was obvious that he is not only incredibly knowledgeable and experienced but also deeply invested in his patients’ understanding and comfort. He answered all of my questions and made sure I felt informed and confident in moving forward. The procedure itself was seamless and as stress-free as something like this could be. Dr. Spina was nice. They’re some scam artists though. I confirmed with them at my consultation that they accepted my insurance. Then the day of my wisdom tooth surgery they were asking for $2.9k because they then apparently did not work with my insurance. Ended up not getting the surgery because of the fact. It all felt very set up and weird. It’s giving scammers, 1/10 do not recommend.

I cannot recommend this practice enough! Dr. Spina removed all three of my children’s wisdom teeth without a single issue and recently removed one of mine, again with no problem at all. Extremely professional, knowledgeable and caring staff. Look no further than Chicago Surgical Specialists!

Let me note that from the LOW reviews this is not an A-TYPICAL experience. DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU OTHERWISE. I went in for my consult with Dr.Spina ( the front desk staff was extremely rude) Following the consult they ran an estimate for my wisdom teeth removal ( all four). They said that my medical did not cover anything and dental only covered 2 teeth. Upon talking to an insurance specialist and my insurance PROVIDER. This information was found to be UNTRUE and subsequently practically Unlawful. I proceeded to call them, and discuss this issue, to ask them to run the estimate through DENTAL ONLY. To where they told me it was legally impossible and that it would be FRAUD. Which is also UNTRUE. They refused to run the estimate solely through dental insurance and argued with me over the phone in regards to how “ their system works”. Obviously your system is to rob people blind. My dental provider let me know that my dental would cover the WHOLE COST. They also over charged me a 80$ fee upon my consult visit. the surgery is 3,000$ and they tried to tell me, initially, that I would owe $2,090 at the date of surgery. RIDICULOUSLY FALSE based on my insurance and provider. They try to scam you by telling you it’s impossible to have full coverage with ONLY DENTAL, and that legally they can’t run the estimate without medical as well. DO NOT GO TO THIS SURGICAL CENTER. Ironically I have found a surgical center that allows me to ONLY run my estimate through dental and have FULL COVERAGE. SO HOW IN THE WORLD IS DR SPINAS OFFICE trying to tell me it’s fraud?!?!! UNREAL. If I could give them Zero stars I would!

Today was a stressful day for my 82 year old Mother, as she knew the inevitable would eventually have to happen. She has 2 teeth that need to be surgically removed. From the moment that we walked in we were treated with the utmost of respect and professionalism. Now the best part, in walked Dr. Anthony Spina. The nervousness and anxiety stopped as he introduced himself I could see the smile on my Mothers face. Dr. Spina explained the necessary procedure that would take place and reassured my Mother with such grace and compassion. Dr. Spina made us both feel as though we were a part of his family. Such hospitality and genuiness could be felt. He spoke with great confidence and yet spoke with my Mother as if she was his own Mom. From the check-in staff all the way thru to the scheduling desk, we were made to feel like royalty! Thank you so much Doctor and staff for the wonderful service. You truly are the best of the best of oral surgeons! Should you need an Oral Surgeon, look no further. If your reading this you've found it!

Called and placed on hold by initial intake. Received return call from initial intake and repeated supplied the same information. Refused assistance to verify coverage but instead transferred to manager. Mentioned wait time and refusal to verify coverage. Manager disconnected call. Will report this office for poor registration and management. Do not expect good patient assistance and respect from this staff. They should be replaced with patient centric staff and management. My doctor has been notified and this complaint will be filed with BBB and other dental associations.

Dr. Spina removed my son's wisdom teeth over the summer and his recovery was nice and easy. He also just removed a cracked wisdom tooth from me and it went as smooth as possible. I was able to get an emergency appointment and the tooth removed before it got worse. Staff is professional and efficient. The facilities are clean and top tier.

The office lady w/curly hair was friendly. She was able to help me schedule surgery soon and not wait for months. The nurses were friendly and helpful too. I went in for wisdom teeth extraction/Dr Cimino. The medical staff here are experienced and highly educated. I didn't feel any pain during or after the wisdom teeth extraction. Our son needed to quickly have his wisdom teeth removed and Chicago Surgical Specialists, namely Dr Spina, were referred to us. Dr. Spina and his team got us in for our initial consultation quickly and had our son in for his removal within a few days, even though it's holiday season and many businesses are closed. Dr. Spina and his team have been following up and making sure our son is doing OK post-surgery. We were told we would be in great hands if we went to see Dr. Spina and we can say, with 100% confirmation, we were in great hands and would recommend Dr. Spina and Chicago Surgical to anyone needing their services. I have a serious fear of dentists, so when I was told I needed an extraction and replacement tooth done, I wanted to make sure it would be with a surgeon who was good and gentle, and understanding. They were so wonderful here! I had everything finished up last year or so, it was a longer process, just because of the extraction then replacement and crown, etc... But the major part, the extraction, was smoother than I could have ever imagined! I was completely under and when I woke up, I was so surprised. The recovery was much easier than expected and my pain was almost nothing. I would definitely recommend them for any surgical needs.

Dr. Anthony Spina has one of the most organized and efficient dental/surgical practices I have had the opportunity to experience. I had cracked a front tooth through into the root which required extraction as well as insertion of bone materials to fill the void. Dr. Spina addressed all of these issues in a knowledgable and professional manner. His practice has state of the art imaging equipment used to pinpoint the treatment plan. Dr. Spina expertly inserted an implant I am so pleased with the outcome and would recommend Dr. Spina to anyone who has a dental issue.

Dr. Spina is simply amazing! His entire staff, especially; Marie, Lauren and Alicia, all exceeded my expectations during my procedure! I had an emergency need for oral surgery on a Saturday afternoon. Dr. Spina kept the office open to accommodate me. He is very professional but also has a great bedside manner which helps a lot when one is under the stress of an oral surgery emergency. Their office is immaculate, with the newest equipment available and they make sure that you are prepared to go home with full instructions post operation. For any oral surgery needs, I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Spina, I consider him not only my surgeon but a friend.

This place is not handicap accessible. I would not recommend this place to anyone that has to bring a loved one here in a wheelchair. You have to try and hold door open and push chair, the back door that has handicap button does not lead to the front where the offices are without code access.

i would give zero stars if that was an option. went in for a consult on jaw surgery with doctor ANTHONY M. SPINA, he barely looked in my mouth, didn’t even have me remove my rubberbands. then he told me he’d reach out to me a few days later which he never did even after multiple phone calls from myself, my mother and my orthodontist he delayed my progress by months. and now i’m getting calls to pay for a visit that they did NOTHING during. i would never recommend them.

Adult wisdom tooth extraction! I had all 4 wisdom teeth out and was back eating solid foods in just a week. Dr. Spina and his team did an amazing job! Expedient booking. Highly recommend.

If you are rich this is your place. $700 for 2 simple extractions . No surgery involved no anesthesia. From the moment the doctor entered the room to the moment he finished the clock on the monitor said that 4 Minutes had passed . This is outrageous to say the least. Park Ridge dental sent me there, which begs to question why the dentist there could not do a simple job. Unless referral fees are involved. I have no proof of that . Only that $700 for 4 minutes is a rip off. The quality is good but doesn't rise to the excessive amount . Go with a pocket full of cash , you'll need it! Ted K

My dentist recommended Chicago Surgical Specialists for my wisdom teeth removal and I am so glad she did. Dr. Spina and his staff are wonderful! I am by nature a very nervous person and had been putting off having my wisdom teeth removed for about a decade, they were impacted but did not cause me any issues and I have never had a cavity but finally at my last cleaning my dentist found my first two cavities, one in each bottom wisdom tooth. Alas the inevitable could no longer be ignored, these teeth had to come out. At the consultation Dr. Spina was friendly, kind, competent and answered all my questions. My sister, who lives in another state, had her wisdom teeth removed a few months ago and WOW-what a fiasco that has been for her. I was worried something similar would happened to me as we both waited to have our wisdom teeth removed till we were a bit older but Dr. Spina put me at ease with how simple this was and I was extremely surprised at fast it would take. After letting my family and work know I had to get this done everyone and I mean everyone has told me about their and their children’s horror stories with wisdom teeth removal. Again I am a very nervous person so going in for the procedure my blood pressure was HIGH. I was very worried about how much discomfort I was about to feel or how painful recovery was going to be. The dental assistant/tech, who assisted Dr. Spina, Kathy was amazing at calming me down by walking me through everything from setting up to discharging me. It really felt like she went above and beyond but she’s absolute pro and most likely has done this a million times. I was well taken care and can’t thank her enough. The worst part out of all of everything was the pinch from when the doctor was numbing me and that it, that’s all I felt. Everything from scheduling, checking in and dealing with insurance (shout out to the women at the front desks- You’re all sweethearts!) the consultation, filling prescriptions, the procedure and recovery has gone smoothly and without issue. I am currently on day 3 of recovery and have had minimal discomfort and no real pain. I’ve only had to take ibuprofen and over the counter Tylenol as well as my antibiotic. I’ve followed their recommendations for icing 20 mins on and off for the first 24 hours and only had to ice my cheeks once after that and swelling has not been an issue. Thank you Dr. Spina and staff, your professionalism and passion for your work truly shows!! Also extremely happy with all the protocols and safety measures they are taking during Covid. Highly recommend anyone who needs oral surgery to come see Dr. Spina and staff at Chicago Surgical Specialists.

The service this office provides is highly professional and the staff is some of the friendliest, helpful, and most honest staff you’ll ever meet. Love all the nurses! The overall building is very clean and nice. Doctor Cimino is the best doctor when it comes to oral surgery. He did an amazing job on my wisdom teeth and the surgery itself was so quick and recovery didn’t take long. If you have doubts about any sort of oral surgery believe in this office. They will provide excellent customer service and offer very fair pricing. The only thing I could say negative about this office is the wait times but even then you can’t really blame them. Wait times are a bit high because they offer such amazing service that everyone wants to come here.

I had pain in my lower wisdom tooth which was impacted. Dr Spina did the extraction and he did it so well. He was fast and made it pain free. They have called to check in on me after surgery and answered all of my questions. I rarely write reviews but I had to for this. He is a very good surgeon. I will never go anywhere else.

Wisdom tooth extraction can only be excruciating right? WRONG! I have always had an incredible phobia of dentists removing teeth with the assumption that it has to be an excruciating experience. Boy oh boy was I wrong! I am currently almost 6 months pregnant and Dr.Anthony was so gentle, caring and quick! He 1st numbed the area incredibly well, and then he continuously asked me if I was ok throughout the procedure. All of the staff were kind and explained things clearly! They even gave me very clear and understandable post operative instructions that were printed out for me. They called me the next day to ensure everything was ok. I had to pay out of pocket, but they didn’t charge me an arm and a leg! The procedure was done on Monday, today is Friday, and I feel AMAZING. I have 3 more wisdom teeth to be removed and I will DEFINITELY be back!

The staff was friendly and reassuring the whole time and as soon as the doctor came in, I was out. Before I knew it I was up again and ready to leave. Only minor bleeding and pain, overall a very fast and easy procedure.

I have brought both my children for extractions to Dr. Spina's office. They were very nervous about the procedures, but both said afterwards that it was an easy experience! No pain! The most rude and disrespectful experience of my life! The front desk had poor attitudes and were very sassy and snotty with me. I was told after my first appointment/consultation that I do not owe anything. Only to get a bill from them 3 months later along with another $1.32 service charge added to that initial amount five days later.... what the heck could that even be when I had nothing to do with them since MAY!!! They knew I did not have any insurance that would be covering this cost, that is why I stopped at the front desk before leaving to make sure I paid my dues. Which I was told were $0. I am purely disgusted with this offices customer service skills and ways of operating. I will be telling my dentist to NEVER again refer anyone to this office. On top of that the doctor was with me maybe five minutes after I had waited almost an hour past my initial appointment. Mind you I came early as instructed to fill out all my paperwork. Just for me to find out that even close to two weeks later my scan (which I left there in CD rom form)was still not reviewed by him and they didn't even know where my scan was! I was boiling by then (and in a lot of pain) and said I just want to pick up my scan and NOT work with this doctor anymore. All I got was more attitude and a phone hang up..... real professional....real professional. ::SMH:: Then just to receive my scan in an antagonistic manner from the front desk as I came to pick it up.

I had a pair of miserable molars extracted by Dr. Spina as well as a wisdom tooth. I must say he is incredibly quick and very knowledgeable. He is also very fair with his pricing and was always making sure I was comfortable before starting the procedure. The procedure I had was about 2 to 3 minutes at the most and was entirely painless. I healed very nicely and they checked up on me for the next few days. I would strongly recommend Dr. Spina to anyone needing oral surgery.

This had to be the best dental experience of my life. Suffering with a wisdom tooth for weeks, I finally called and got it removed. I wish I had done it sooner. Dr. Spina was in my mouth for maybe 2 minutes and the tooth was extracted in 2 pieces and aside from the normal swelling, I had no problems after. I'll definitely return for any other surgical needs!

I had to get a wisdom tooth extracted ASAP due to an infection. Dr. Spina and his team were great. They were professional, kind, and made me feel very comfortable and calm throughout the whole experience. The only downside was that my insurance was not covering as much as I would have wanted. Therefore, I checked out another surgeon 10 months later to get my other wisdom teeth extracted. However, I didn't feel comfortable with the other doctor and returned to Dr. Spina's office. Best decision of my life!!!

Dr. Anthony Spina and his entire staff are exceptionally competent and a very nice group of people. I had an extremely pleasant experience before, during, and after my wisdom tooth extraction procedure thanks to the level of care and attention to detail provided by Anthony and staff. I felt calm and at ease throughout the entire process because of how well everything was explained to me and how well the surgery was performed. If you would like the utmost level of care, and a doctor you whose card you will keep on the fridge and recommend to all your family and friends, Spina is the place for you. Dr. Spina is one of those Doctor's with a calling, and with the help of his dedicated staff, I trust you will be in good hands just like me.

Very disappointed with Dr. Spina and is no trust anymore… The bone of lost tooth is screwed up of wrongly put in an implant and painful eating. Now I need to do some homework and see what can be done after and how to repair of this mistake. Yeah, Dr. recommended using this expensive tooth only for very soft food.

As always, dentistry IS expensive. Oral surgeons are even more expensive. Spina does good work, never gives me any problems, his prices are reasonable considering his line of work. He's not a discount dental shop, he IS a busy man, and he's a terrific dentist/doctor. All of his staff are wonderful people, Joanne probably who the previous review was referencing. She's a very nice lady and helps console you as not to worry too much about the procedure. She is (I believe) the right hand tech when it comes to assistance during the ops, but I never pay much attention when it comes to time to do the dental work.. I'm preoccupied with.. other stuff. I don't want to get more dental work done, but when I do, I will go back to Dr. Spina! If you're not sure where to go for oral surgery, I would highly recommend giving him a chance.

Had a very pleasant experience with Dr. Spina and his staff. The receptionists were very kind and welcoming and I felt very comfortable with the whole environment. I went in to get all of my wisdom teeth removed. One of Dr. Spina's assistants (I forget her name) was very sweet and made me feel very comfortable before the surgery. She explained thoroughly everything that might happen when I left the office and the best way to take care of myself. Dr. Spina also explained everything to me and made sure I knew what to look out for as well. I was very woozy after the surgery, but I do recall the assistants walking me out to the car and driver that was going to take me home. They called me later that day to make sure I was doing okay. They also called me the next day and did the same thing. Aside from that, they were open to receive any phone calls if I needed any assistance or information. Overall, extremely pleased with their service and would recommend to anyone.
