Outstanding medical professional service and customer service I received on my first visit

I am very impressed with Dr. Jay Akef and his entire staff. The front office staff are extremely helpful and very pleasant and were able to get me appointments that worked for me. Dr. Akef ordered the medications I would need for the surgery to be done about 5 days prior to the surgery. Each prescription had detailed instructions on when to take them and how many to take. The back office staff are also very friendly and helpful and very skilled. I was impressed with their attention to cleanliness. Dr. Akef numbed me up for the procedure and made sure that the anesthetic was working well. I barely felt the 5 injections and he announced each one to prepare me for each of the painless events. Dr. Akef and his assistants performed the work on me and I had zero pain or discomfort during the surgery. Dr. Akef was able to complete the 2 implants in about 1 hour. After the surgery I took 1 pain pill 2 hours after the surgery and then followed up with 2 sets of Ibuprofen spaced out 8 hrs. per set. I did not need any more pain medication thereafter. The work was flawlessly completed and I am totally satisfied with the entire experience. If you're looking for a great Periodontist, I highly recommend you contact Dr. Jay Akef.

I had major oral surgery done by Doctor Akef yesterday under an outpatient referral through the Veterans Administration order. During that surgery, it became apparent that one of my teeth could not be saved. However, the extraction was not covered under the VA Order. The good Doctor went ahead and removed it anyway. I’ve sedation the only way to go! Extraction of molar and bone graft, smoothly done.

The doctor was very patient and helped answer all of our questions and explained clearly to us what our options were. That included doing some procedures outside of his office which is in the best interest of our situation. I wouldn’t go back here if my life depended on it. As a veteran her tried to tell me there’s no way I got a prescription for a medication that I DID receive from the VA. Veterans don’t give them our service find another place to go. I waited an hour for him to poke my guns and tell me stuff I already knew. Dr. Jay Akef and her staff were very professional and helpful from the beginning. They have a very friendly front desk and hygienist. Before stared, Dr. Akef spent the time to truly explain what was going on based on the x ray image and his findings. and what would be the best treatment. I was nervous at first for the surgery but he enusre that i didn’t have to worry at all and i didn’t feel pain or anything. Even after the surgery and the next day seems like nothing happen. I recommend these guys for your dentist!

Brutal deep clean- experience- male hygienist not introduce self pulls out syringe and dental tools- jammed large needle syringe in mouth- I experienced shooting pain in gums. Inexperienced hygienist should not practice on patients- finally after I made multiple requests to change his limited skills a head periodontist came in an inserted a much smaller syringe needle in my gums so cleaning could continue. No patient - particularly a senior female veteran should experience this.

I had an “All on 6 implants” double arch crowns designed and installed by Dr Akef. The total procedure lasted about one year including four trials of temporary crowns. Dr Akef made effort to revise and refine the fit of my artificial teeth. I had my temporary crown broken and made an emergency call. That happened in the last Christmas Eve when the clinic closed and all staff were on holidays. Dr Akef came to office and spent about two hours to fix the issue. I greatly appreciate his care for patients.

Implant is a long process but I’m down to my last few steps. The experience has been relatively pain free such that I didn’t even fill the pain medication prescription. Tylenol was plenty for just 1 day after each procedure. I had another implant that didn’t go so well and still gives me problems. I may ask the doctor if he has a solution for that problem after I complete this implant

I have always had awsome experience with Dr.Akef. he just spent an hour trying to redo a 3 surface filling on a molar which broke off last week. Excellent job and a lot of effort he put into it. He is also my periodontist, and has performed several successful gum surgeries for me.

Very thankful I found this Dr.. His Office is somewhat outdated but don’t let that fool you. After my implant procedure, which was surprisingly quick, completely pain free, you definitely find out where the money goes. It’s not in the picturesque location or fringy modern office. It’s the quality of his work. I had a ton of questions before and after, and staff and Dr. had no problem answering them all. Price is very reasonable. Definitely recommend!

Doctor Akef is a consummate periodontist and a humble gentleman. I saw him after a pre-implant bone graft from another doctor failed. He reperformed the bone graft procedure and added an extra step, I don't recall the technical term, but it was successful. The implant is perfect, and his assistant Yadi has a keen eye for matching crown colors. Recently I had two additional procedures. After my gums receded, an old metal crown exposed the dark metal beneath it, and I decided to replace it with a porcelain crown. Additionally, a previous dentist underestimated an implant's crown size, leaving me with a gap that required constant flossing. Doctor Akef replaced both crowns, and I couldn't be happier. I feel like I have my natural teeth again. Last but not least, Jaime deserves much praise for thoroughly cleaning my teeth. The team is top-notch. Look no further you've found the best!

Dr Akef was very kind and great. This is for the staff: stsff seems to need more training on safety and customer service. They kept on coming in and out and asking Dr Akef while there is a procedure being done with me. In addition, They send text but no phone calls (pre-Op) and zi was forced to call them the day before, luckily, and they told me pre-op requirements and where to pick up my meds, that I did not know I needed to take before ops. Lastly, if you call, they kept me waiting and they never called back. I have to make a phone call again, and threaten them that I will fund another dental clinic. Dr. Akef called me to apologize for the bad day. I was litterally scared because there were about 4 people in the room, while I was being cut. I cannot speak nor move to tell the staff, go out and let my Doctor Focus. Try it yourself and you will see the difference. My dentist insistead that he is good (maybe they know each other) but I really told him I wanted a diff office. Luckily, I left unscaved but I cancelled my other appointment. Once agin, Dr. Akef is great but he also need to train his staff, focus on safety and malpractice, and sent his staff to customer seevice training. Dr. may not be aware of the problem so I am wrting this so he reads it. Lastly, the staff cannot be speaking other language if they are talking besides the client on the seat. Privately between them is ok, but not where I am seating. Thank you for the service but I want you to improve too that is why I am writing this. Furthermore, I want you to be successful and safe for everyone’s benefit and to the sustainability of your practice.

My appointment went very well. You can easily see that Dr. Akef is highly experienced in what he does. I had three molars that had several infections extracted. Then I had bone graffs on the three teeth in hopes that I can get dental implants there in about six months. We will have to wait and see. I felt no pain, the dental assistant was excellent in assisting the doctor. I go back for a followup visit in about 10 days. I felt as though I was in great hands and and would highly recommend Dr. Akef and his staff. We will have to wait to see my final results but I feel I had excellent care. I am very pleased so far with the work completed at San Diego Dental Implants & Periodontics. I had a sinus graft to prepare for three dental implants including a bone graft for another implant. That's four implants completed. Something, I thought was not possible I've lost all four of the teeth over 15 years ago and had no bone. The cost was very affordable. Throughout the procedure I was really impressed with Dr. Akef's attention to how I was feeling, and his detailed eye for aesthetics. When numbing my mouth, he was extremely delicate and took his time, so the process was essentially pain-free! I would highly recommend Dr. Akef, and De Anza Dentistry!

I went to see Dr. Akef since I needed an implant. The first procedure was least painful among all other my implant surgeries (which were quite a few.) While I was waiting for it to heal, my crown on one of old implants broke. Dr. Akef took time to find the matching part for it and made a crown for me. About six months later, I got my crown on the implant he worked on earlier. I am quite happy about the result. If I need another dental work, I will go to Dr. Akef.

He was very knowledgeable and explained that four of my teeth which had developed periodontal disease can be saved by bone grafting. I had the periodontal disease treatment and bone grafting done and it worked. I was able to save all four teeth. I ended up only needing one dental implant.

I've been going to De Anza Dentistry for years now. Whenever I need to go to the dentist for either a routine visit or to fix some problem, I always feel safe with his level of care and trust that he'll be very thorough. I used to eat a lot of sweets (I was a sugar fiend. The Dentists in De Anza Dentistry did worked on one of my tooth that needed a crown replacement. The procedure was done with great care and made me as comfortable as I could be and I am appreciative of their professional attitude in taking care of me.

My wife and I had been going to a general dentist for many years. After having repeated problems with sensitive teeth we were referred to Dr. Akef at De Anza Dentistry. With their high resolution x-ray machines, Dr. Akef showed us how the previous dentist had installed faulty crowns on our teeth for both my wife and I. We sent the x-rays to the previous dentist, who accepted his mistakes and refunded our money. Dr. Akef, who is a Periodontist, also diagnosed extensive bone loss around one of my teeth, something that should have been diagnosed by the previous dentist before it became so extensive. Dr. Akef made new crowns for both my wife and I, and did bone graft to remedy the bone loss. We're so appreciative of what Dr. Akef and his staff have done for my wife and I, and recommend him highly.
