Before visiting the orthodontist, I consulted both a dentist and a surgeon, who diagnosed my problem as a misaligned bite and recommended orthodontic treatment. They noted that my lower jaw shifts to the left when closing my mouth, causing joint pain. On April 15, 2024, I visited Dr. Akavan, an orthodontist I chose due to her convenient location and impressive online profile highlighting her expertise and years of experience—important factors for me. Dr. Akavan assured me that she understood my issue and could resolve it, promising that the initial aligners would alleviate my pain and properly align my jaw. I paid $1,269 for Invisalign aligners and was then unexpectedly charged an additional $570 for scanning, which hadn't been previously mentioned. On May 23, 2024, I received the Invisalign aligners. However, wearing them worsened my joint pain daily. Upon returning to the clinic, I was advised to remove the elastics and continue without them, but the pain only intensified. Despite this, I was instructed to proceed with the treatment and new aligners, which continued to exacerbate my condition. On my third visit, it became clear that Dr. Akavan was not correcting my bite but merely closing it in its misaligned state. She attempted to convince me that I was imagining the issue and suggested I continue biting in the painful, uncomfortable position I had initially complained about. I rejected this approach, and Dr. Akavan offered a refund, to which I agreed due to the unbearable pain and wasted time. Our treatment concluded on June 27, and the administrator promised a refund check within a week. However, on July 1, another $208 was withdrawn from my account. Despite paying $2,236 in total, the refund check was for only $1,269. They claimed the remaining amount covered aligner production and scanning costs, yet I never received the scan results, which were supposedly emailed after my first visit. When we requested to speak with Dr. Akavan, the administrator claimed she was too busy. Eventually, Dr. Akavan emerged from behind a glass window near the reception, where she had been listening to our entire conversation. She insisted she was the best orthodontist and that refunding half the amount was a generous gesture on her part. In the middle of our discussion, she abruptly left. Choosing Dr. Akavan's clinic was my worst decision. I lost my health, time, and money. Avoid this clinic to protect your well-being.

When I finished my braces after 2-3 years of pure pain and suffering they gave me a bag of rock hard-expired candy so basically I did all that for nothing, and then they told me that I have to put on retainers every night for all of my life, like what was the point of braces? And the retainers are way too overpriced like 400-800 for a pair a plastic?

Dr. Akavan is AMAZING. This is my third round of braces. The first two times I was just not happy with the result. I went to two other orthodontists prior to finding Dr. Akavan. One of them recommended jaw surgery and said he would not help me without it, and that my problem couldn’t be improved without it. The first time I walked in, she immediately said she could help me and get at least an 80% improvement and could do it with Invisalign. You can call or text her any time with problems you may be having which was not something I’ve ever had before with any doctor. She is very responsive. I am so happy I put my trust in her. Two years later, I’m not trying to hide my smile in pictures anymore.

She’s the best orthodontist near me. Beautiful office. Dr. Akavan is very knowledgeable. She gave me a great option to straighten my teeth in less than 6 months. I’m in my 60s and a businessman and I preferred something kind of invisible that wouldn’t take too long, but not Invisalign. So she gave me these bloore aligners. They’re barely visible, easy to wear, comfortable and I’ll be done quickly. I loved her chair side manner, she took all the time she needed, and made it easy for me to understand. Very friendly staff, good financing. She’s great! Love her.

Best Orthodontist near me! I’ve had braces when I was younger but my teeth shifted because I didn’t wear my retainer. Due to a scooter accident that knocked out my daughters front adult tooth, my daughter had braces done with Dr. Akavan which spanned over a few years. Treatment was "completed" and retainers were provided to keep the teeth in place until my daughter was old enough to have an implant. Well, here we are looking to start the implant. The oral surgeon provided us x-rays showing the roots in teeth 8 & 10 are crowding where the implant must go for #9. Called to make an appointment with Dr. Akavan and the reception stated there would be a fee for the appointment. This is not acceptable. A fee to check her own work? Nope. I was willing to pay extra for additional treatment if xrays showed my daughters teeth have moved since the work was completed. But I'm not going to pay a fee to come see if that is the case. $5,600 dollars later and a fee to come check your work is still in tact - No. Update: I am pleased to say I received a call from Stephanie the office manager explaining that an error was made in the information provided and there is not a follow up fee on an ortho case involving pending implants. Thank you Stephanie!

So glad I went to Dr Akavan. I had to wear invisalign for 1.5 yrs and my teeth are now perfect! Dr Akavan is awesome, she’s very thorough and caring. I came to Dr. Akavan for a full set of Invisalign. My complete treatment is for 15 months wearing top and bottom clear attachments. I'm on my 12th month, and the results so far is amazing. Every 8 weeks, I see Dr. Akavan. She takes me right away with no wait, always nice, smiling and most important very professional. I'm out the door in 5 minutes. This review is just a bit late, but Dr. Akavan gave me upper and lower braces about ten years ago. They were clear (non-removable), and hardly anyone noticed I had them. Dr. Akavan did a fantastic job. Her skill and patience came through in her work. She always seemed to value my concerns throughout the entire process, and, whenever I had a "braces emergency," she fit me into her schedule. Her staff was also wonderful. When it was time to get my braces off, she made me clear plastic retainers that I have been wearing at night for ten years now, and my teeth have remained perfectly straight all these years. Overall, it was a perfect brace experience.

I couldn't afford braces when I was younger so I got them in my early thirties. I met with 3 different offices and Dr. Akavan was the only one that did not suggest extraction. I wanted to keep as much of my teeth as possible since they were already worn out due to years of neglect. After 2 years of treatment my teeth are straight, biting down is now comfortable, and my top and bottom rows don't hit each other. I would suggest anyone of any age to go here. She also took extra time after my monthly payments were over to monitor my use of retainers. Although slightly more expensive than others, the service was well worth it.

Well I'm in my 50s and I noticed that my teeth were becoming more and more crooked. I had braces in my teens and well with the head gear and everything it was painful. I had history of TMJ and was really reluctant to have any work done that might aggravate that condition. My dentist encouraged me to go see Dr. Akavan. She's up on all the latest procedures and a short 6 months later my teeth are perfectly straight. I've also noticed that I don't have struggle to floss my teeth. In my case the straightening was done with a removal retainer. The whole office is a positive experience and everyone is smiling. I walk in get an adjustment and i'm out super quick. Love this place. It's hard to find doctors you can really put your trust into, and once you find one, you never want to go elsewhere. I've been seeing Dr. Akavan for a couple years now after I got fed up with my bite. I had braces when I was younger and my previous orthodontist just ended my treatment prematurely, so over time I just developed a lot of tension in my jaw which led to headaches, plus I just hated the way my smile looked. I discussed newer options with Dr. Akavan and I opted for Invisalign. So far, I'm loving the results! I still have a little ways to go but Dr. Akavan has been very attentive and responsive throughout the whole process. She is so intelligent and thorough, extremely diligent in making sure we get my smile just the way I always hoped. She is easy to talk to and approachable with a great personality. The office itself is maticulously clean (sooo important!), and the office staff is so kind and welcoming. They are also very kid-friendly, so I would also recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to take their children.

my son thomas has been going to dr. akavan since he was 6. we have nothing but love and respect for her and everyone in her office. they are kind, caring, thorough and always available for questions or concerns. dr. akavan went out of her way to make sure that my son had the most beautiful smile he could have. and without any doubt, he does! we are sad that since his braces are off we only have maintenance visits and they are few and far between. i couldn't recommend dr. akavan and her staff more. truly, we will miss them! tracy larson

My daughter went to Dr. Akavan on a recommendation of a friend, and now 10 years later her teeth are still perfect. I decided to consult with her about my own teeth, and she suggested invisalign. As a mom years ago, I always felt welcome and informed. However, that experience didn't give me the hands-on insight I have now as a patient. The scheduling and billing office staff are sweet and accommodating. The technicians are friendly and professional, and Dr. Akavan herself is simply a gem. She is an expert in her field and incredibly detail-oriented. Here's an example of how specific she is on aligning your teeth: halfway through my invisalign schedule, they re-examined my progress, and created a new treatment based on where I was. I really feel like I'm in good hands. Another thing about her staff. They are simply like a family. The same technicians my daughter had (and they remember her!) are still there. It's obvious they love what they do, and love working for this extraordinary doctor.

I have had the most wonderful experience going to Dr. Akavan's office. Dr. Akavan and her staff have an amazing, friendly personality. They have been so understanding of my bad work schedule and have been so accommodating. Dr. Akavan is always available to answer all of my questions in detail. She explains everything she is doing and why she is doing them. I leave her office every time satisfied. Now aside from amazing personalities, good customer service, good patient/doctor relationship, Dr. Akavan is an amazing orthodontics! She has done miracles on my teeth! Great results!! I have recommended her to all of my friends who are looking for relaxing, welcoming place with great results on their teeth!!

Dr. Akavan . . . a miracle worker! My bottom teeth had been slightly crooked for years, and I was resigned to smiling with upper teeth only. On several occasions, my dentist recommended Dr. Akavan (now I know why his teeth were perfect). Vanity finally getting the best of me, I made an appointment with Dt. Akavan and was greeted by the most pleasant, courteous and professional staff (in a lovely office). When Dr. Akavan came in (promptly on time), I met the best medical professional in my life. Really smart, warm. funny (beautiful) and a crack diagnostician, Dr. Akavan fitted me for a retainer. No wasted time and no nonsense. Within two visits, I was set.. Not only painless, but each visit was as pleasant as the first. I felt as if I was part of a family. Within a year, I was smiling as I never had before! Go see Dr. Akavan!!!

I would have done this years ago had I known it would be so easy. Dr. Akavan is thoroughly delightful in addition to being extremely talented. My teeth are perfect and the process was effortless. Her staff is beyond compare. The entire office is happy and friendly and inordinately helpful. I am sorry that my treatment is done because I enjoyed seeing all of them every other week. I do not even live in the area but it was well worth the drive each time. Next, I will send my daughter ... and this time remind her to wear her retainer! I cannot make a higher recommendation.

Dr. Akavan is the best. All 3 of my kids came out with beautiful smiles, each with different treatments and approaches personalized to their needs and situations. The office and staff are always very professional and friendly. Highly recommend.
