Had 4 wisdom teeth pulled on Friday and they did not send me prescription to get filled. So i have been with out pain medication and antibiotics for the entire weekend.

I took my husband in for a consultation over a month ago, and the experience has been extremely frustrating. I’ve called multiple times trying to speak with the doctor to go over his treatment plan, but getting anyone to return a call is like trying to pull an elephant through the eye of a needle. Communication is practically nonexistent. No one calls back, and it’s impossible to get answers about your care. Also, be aware that their advertised “free” consultation and X-rays weren’t actually free in our experience. They billed our insurance, and when the insurance didn’t approve the charges, they stopped returning our calls altogether. If you’re looking for a provider who communicates with patients and follows up on their care, this was not our experience.
We’re very sorry for the poor experience and the frustration this has caused you and your husband. Your description of nonexistent communication and unexpected billing for a consult and X-rays is unacceptable and not the standard we strive for. We will investigate this matter, review the charges, and ensure someone follows up promptly. Had an upscale feel, the staff was friendly, but I got scammed out of $3500 for services that I never received and was scammed out of an additional $500 for something the office had to reschedule me for!!! This place is VERY shady and they are a private practice so they create their own terms and are very good at being deceitful about it. I’d avoid this place if you don’t have thousands of dollars to freely give away. Ask for itemized breakdowns of everything!!! Otherwise, you WILL BE SCAMMED AND LIED TO WITH NO RETURN OF SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF FUNDS!!! BE AWARE!!!

I have all sorts of issues and I was dreading getting this badly needed dental work done. This was by far the best experience I’ve had in a dental chair. They were so patient with me and made sure I was comfortable. I like that they kept checking with me which allowed me to relax after being so nervous. They went so far as to offer me a blanket, eyeware and more! Never have I ever been anywhere that offered things like that to ease my nerves or make me comfortable. First, when I came in it was a nice and calm environment that made me less nervous about my dental experience. Bridget did my x-rays and got me ready for treatment and was so gentle, thorough and kind. Alex was very patient and helped me through the process of payment for my treatment. Dr. Carmen and Bridget were gentle during my treatment and made sure that I was completely numbed before working on me. Overall this made me more excited to come to the dentist because I took longer to find a new dentist because I was scared to be left in the wrong hands. They made me more confident in taking care of my oral hygiene because Dr.Carmen was very knowledgeable and I didn’t have to struggle to explain my issues to her. Also A+ for the equipment, I’ve never seen this kind of equipment in a dental office and it made my experience so much better.

My experience was very similar to Emily and Hunter, and I actually think I got scammed. First of all, I showed up at 9 AM just for a cleaning, X-rays, and an exam, and I didn’t leave until noon. They looked at my teeth, asked me if I was satisfied with my smile, which I responded yes to, and then left the room, and came back and started talking to me about clear aligners. The dentist told me that at this point clear aligners weren’t just cosmetic but medically necessary. She also told me I had two cavities that I needed filled, but won’t need any numbing for, which has never happened to me, so looking back, I don’t even know if I actually had cavities. So she began talking to me about the clear aligners and told me I absolutely needed them, and began talking to me about the cost, which was of course thousands of dollars. I told her I needed to talk to my husband about it first, and her response was “what do you need to talk to him about? It’s medically necessary,” then she told me she can give me a discount. I ended up agreeing to the clear aligners, paid a deposit, and set up the payment plan, which I kind of felt bullied into. This was in October, they told me they’d call me in a few weeks to get the trays, and then I didn’t hear from them again. I called them January 2 to try to see what was going on, and dr Carmen claimed she tried to call me to discuss the treatment plan (I didn’t have any missed calls or voicemails from her). She called me the next day to go over the treatment plan and said the lab couldn’t do clear aligners due to a baby tooth that I had, so they decided they would do cosmetic veneers for an extra couple of thousand. I told her I’m not willing to pay the extra, and I was also under the understanding that the clear aligners were medically necessary, but now we’re doing something cosmetically? She asked if she can get the price down if I would be willing, and I told her if I didn’t have to pay extra, I would think about it, although she never actually explained to me what kind of veneers they’d be using or even the process of getting them put in. She said she would call me back. I didn’t hear back from her through the rest of January, so I called again on January 28 to tell them to go ahead and just cancel the whole thing because it seemed so sketchy. I also am pregnant and was told by my OB to hold off on elective procedures due to the possibility of pain, which I told Dr. Carmen. Again, she claimed she called me to get it set up, and when I didn’t answer, she went ahead and told the lab to go through with it. Again, I never actually consented to the veneers, I just wanted to know the price. She did end up putting in for a refund after a lot of pushback, but I still had to pay the lab fee for the veneer mockup, which I never agreed to. I’m a nurse in a hospital, so I have familiarity with the medical field and this all feels very wrong and deceitful.

During your visit, these records were taken so we could review your oral health and discuss potential treatment options.
Sometimes recommendations can change as additional diagnostic information or laboratory feedback becomes available, which may require revisiting treatment options for the best longevity prognosis to achieve your smile goals.
It was our understanding at the time of each conversation that we were aligned on the proposed plan until your pregnancy occurred and you expressed a desire to pause elective treatment, which we completely respect.
Because of patient privacy laws, we are unable to discuss specific details of your care in a public forum. Our third-party financial team and financial director have rectified the pause in treatment by processing the appropriate refund. We are here for you if you would like to discuss any remaining concerns directly.

Dr. Carmen is the best of the best. After relocating back home to Texas after living in California for the last 30yrs… the absolute last thing I wanted to do was find a new dentist. Flights back to SF were getting pretty steep every six months for a cleaning which I would still be doing had I not found Dr Carmen. Her staff are super friendly. The office is spectacularly decorated which gives you a warm fuzzy feeling the moment you step inside. It is a true spa experience. So despite all the great reviews i will have to honestly add one too … reason being is never mind the aesthetic which is amazing the staff is awesome Juanita was really cool but the doctor she was not only relaxed and but she calmed me down (i get nervous at dentists) she educated me on my mouth health - the dentist herself recognized an error in my insurance billing called them an saved me A LOT of money … she educated me on a preventative procedure that i didn’t know i need and showed me .. took the time to explain in english why she felt i needed it … and was more than willing to offer a payment plan … i left feeling like for the first time my teeth health was her top priority … ive never had that !

Place was okay. I was pretty upset after waiting an hour in the lobby to be seen. There’s no receptionist so you just sit down and wait. It took 45 minutes for anyone to address me and notice I was there. The actual service was a disaster. My dental assistant was brand new and wasn’t familiar with the room, program or tools. The rooms are tiny so there was no where for my feet to go without being constantly bumped or in the way of the tech. The sanitary practices were below my standards. Equipment that was set down on across a keyboard was about to be put back into my mouth, I had to ask for a clean instrument. The assistants charm bracelet was literally in my mouth and when I mentioned it she just said she would wash her hands. Take it off. It was all over my face, in my eyes and mouth. I feel bad since she was new but I was told to write a review so here we are. I have another appointment in 6 months and I’m debating if I want to give this place another chance or roll the dice and try a new dentist. 3 stars since the dentist did a good job cleaning my teeth and informing me of what I needed going forward.

My experience was very similar to Emily’s- the appointment took 3 hours and all we did was x-rays and talked over extremely expensive procedures without going through with a cleaning. Felt very uncomfortable especially because we jumped right into talking about money and scheduling without even asking what I wanted to do. I felt uneasy about everything, and also had to pay a $50 co-pay for no reason explained … the place was nice, however it just seemed very unusual and not 100% trustworthy with their procedures.

The thorough and knowledgeable dentist and technicians efficiently took great care of me through each step of my visit to their relaxing spa environment. This place is a little strange to me. They make it all cozy for the patient (offer you drinks when you walk in, provide you a blanket in the exam room, etc.), but I honestly think these are all distractors from their poor quality of care. I came here for my 6 month cleaning as I had to re-establish providers since I moved from Houston, and my visit here was nearly 3 hours long. They took forever with the comprehensive X-rays and I had to wait a long time to be seen by the dentist. I have never had to pay anything for my 6 month cleaning and even made sure to ask multiple times before my visit if my insurance was in-network, which they said yes to. I have insurance that covers 2 dental cleanings/exam per year, thus I was not expecting any charges. However, the dentist told me there was a $150 charge and I basically had to beg her to lower this charge. In addition to charging me that day, she billed my insurance for a periodontal exam (after I told her that my dad has gum disease, NOT me) and refused to clean my teeth that day as it "wouldn't be providing me with what I needed", unless I were to pay for the treatment. I was told that what I paid in office would be the only charges I would be responsible for, but then I got a statement from my insurance for $600 and I was responsible for paying $350 out-of-pocket. They told my insurance that these charges had been resolved with the patient (me), however, they lied to my insurance as this has yet to be resolved. As someone who is in the medical field, I could never imagine preying on my patients for profit, but unfortunately, this is something that happens too often. I would not recommend this place.

This allows us to recommend the appropriate care rather than providing a “one-size-fits-all” cleaning that may not meet your needs.
We also understand how confusing insurance benefits can be. While insurance companies provide benefit estimates, they ultimately decide what they will or will not cover — even for services listed as 100% covered. This is why we cannot diagnose or alter treatment recommendations based on insurance limitations. What we can do, and always honor, is our Good Faith Estimate process. If insurance reduces or denies a benefit unexpectedly, we do not hold patients responsible for the difference. We also provided a discount during your visit to help make your out-of-pocket portion more feasible. We’ve reached out to explain all of this and to reassure you that you do not owe anything further to our office.
Our heart is always to provide honest, ethical, and personalized care, and we never want any patient to feel unheard or unsupported. If you’re open to it, we would be more than happy to review your benefits together or answer any lingering questions. We truly wish you the best in finding an office that feels like the right fit for your needs.

I think this is a great cosmetic dentistry if you want veneers or superficial things. But I needed actual oral care and didn’t feel that was the place for us. The staff is amazing and does their due diligence. But I feel the after exam was interesting, we were pushed in the room to figure out their payment plans instead of someone helping and directing us in what to do. We also paid our exam fee over the phone to another person since there is no front desk, which was strange. Pros-her bedside manner and office is nice Cons- not for my actual oral problem care

This is the best dental office I've ever visited in my 64 years on earth, and I can't imagine seeing any other dentist from here on out. Dr. Carmen and her assistants were so knowledgeable, kind and fun, and I was made to feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for from the minute I entered the front door. The spa-like office is absolutely beautiful, the ambient music in the background is so relaxing, and comforting, and every aspect of the visit put me at ease. I had lost a prominent tooth the day or so before, and my normal (now previous) dentist was on vacation for several weeks, and this office had an available appointment on Saturday afternoon, and worked in my entire procedure during my very first visit. Communication with the office is easy and personable, through text messaging, and patients are guided through each stage of the process -- the office even included a prescription discount application with the text summarizing my medications, prescribed for me, which located the lowest price available for each. I even received follow up messages with instructions for my post-op care, and reminders for my next appointments. I'm not sure words can adequately describe the dental experience at this office, but it's absolutely top notch, and there's no other dentist I'd rather see at this point -- they've won me over for life.

Absolutely superb service and dental care. I had an emergency extraction and bridge reconstruction on a Sunday. Dr.Blunt (“Carmen”) was responsive and flexible in scheduling, even responding to my text while she was attending church. I waited for 30 minutes past my scheduled visit. My visit was to get a cleaning and look at a tooth that is NOT hurting or anything! She seen I needed a root canal and a deep cleaning and wouldnt clean my teeth. I sat there for an hour a half for them to not even clean my teeth or do anything but x rays…I had to keep asking questions to finally get her to tell me no that can’t clean my teeth when needing a root canal… waste of time!!
