I am Dr. Bruce Abe, a periodontist dedicated to delivering exceptional, comfortable, and gentle dental care. My roots are in Orange County, California, where I grew up and earned my undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine. From there, I followed my passion for dentistry to the UCLA School of Dentistry. During my time at UCLA, I received a Health Professional Scholarship with the U.S. Air Force, which gave me the incredible opportunity to focus entirely on my dental education.
After earning my dental degree in 2000, I moved to Seattle to complete a residency in periodontics at the University of Washington. I graduated in 2003 with both a specialty certificate and a master's degree. My next chapter took me to Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, where I proudly served our men and women in uniform as an active-duty periodontist.
Following my military service, I made my home in San Diego, where I have lived for over 17 years. When I am not in the clinic, you can usually find me working on my golf game or spending quality time with my two daughters.

So far everything has gone as planned with my tooth extractions, even the additional one that wasnt included, but due to the fragility and the location of the new cavity near the gumline and root I believe, it had to come out. Dr Abe I believe has been very honest about my care, and hopefully my oral care with him will be cleared up over the next 12-36 months including the new implants. Will update my review when complete. The staff has been great, however sometimes when I am called or they leave a message at times the person sounds upset, or angry? Why? Have no idea, my bill and insurance is always paid, and no dispute has ever happened. **Update: 4/12/2025 The tooth in the back of my upper left jaw was a cavity, thatn had a crown on it,so decided to let it go as well. We yanked that sucker out, and that gum area is doing great and healing nicely. We'll be heading out on vacation soon, so decided to let the gum continue its course of healing even a bit longer before I have the implants installed after I return in Late May; as Dr. Abe, will be reviewing and determining if it will be ready at that time. Being I had the single crown and tooth removed all the way back on my upper left, I have decided for now that I wont need an additional implant in the lower side which will saveme thousands! And truthfully; I am doing ok with chewing, and I know it will be much better once I get the implants installed which will match my lower then on that side of my mouth, and will make a decision in the coming years if I need to change this. All is good so far, Thanks Dr Abe!

Dr. Abe is amazing. I had a tooth I had to get pulled and he was very understanding and walked me through everything. I’m in the healing process to get an implant and he is there every step of the way. It also helps if you are a good patient and follow his instructions TO A T!! I never feel nervous or scared when I am being seen either. Amazing doctor and amazing staff!

I was referred to Dr. Abe for an extraction. He was professional and made sure that I was comfortable throughout the consultation, procedure, and follow up visits. Dr. Abe made sure to answer any questions I had and provided aftercare information. The extraction went smoothly and quickly. I had no swelling post-procedure and didn't need any painkillers. I would highly recommend his work.
